QRe: 6.7 Promotion from inquorate classes in Div 4

He paddle, there is also Ranking Status. If someone new to the sport feels they should be in a higher div they can always apply for RS. This rule does, however,, stop us having to promote someone who has hit every gate but still been a second faster than the person who needed to be timed on a calend...

Re: Reduce the number of events across the Divisions?

I wonder if the OP has considered the level of commitment required for clubs to get low div paddlers to only 8 venues? It would drastically impact on the number of people taking up the sport and reduce it to the numbers of paddlers we had a few years back.. I've seen the umber of paddlers competing ...

Incident at Shepperton

as everyone at the event is aware, there was an incident involving a young paddler from Frome CC at lunchtime on Sunday. I would just like to reassure everyone that the young lady was released from hospital soon after prize giving and is absolutely fine. I would like to thank everyone at the site ye...

Re: K1 Wanted

Oh dear, not another case of "absent safety boat" I hope. I hear one poor newly pro noted div 3 girl had a swim down the whole course with a swamped boat, fortunately for her it wasn't the two ten year old girls waiting for her at the bottom, as it should have been, as one of the officials had run o...

Re: Portable points next season

And I do agree that this should all have been finalised before the entries for next years calendar close! How are clubs meant to book a slalom if they have no idea which system they will be running it under? I wonder how many clubs will take a year off to see what they will have to contend with?

Re: Portable points next season

Now the portable points bit I really don't have a problem with, it's just Paddle Up with benefits, but with competitors now having to make 5 races count, and the possibility of single day events, it is increasing the number of slaloms we will have to do to get the points for promotion. It has alread...

Re: Portable points next season

Well it looks like all races will be single division which is a problem for us parents who take several kids in different divisions out and about. How is a newly promoted div 3 10 year old supposed to "paddle up" at the div 2 slaloms her sister paddles? And how are we supposed to find the money to g...

Nick, really?? We don't spend our whole lives glued to our mobiles when we are at events, in fact a lot of us quite like the break from technology.

Re: If the Answer is 42, what is the Question?

Going back to the 80's, one of the HUGE problems for me was getting to div 2 slaloms as, appart from two on the Thames, they were all up North, as us southern softies st don't have the water for it. I agree that going back to the old five div system would be great, but spare a thought for those div ...

bcu membership for judges

Ok, am i right in saying that judges do not need to prove BCU membership for their judges runs, only divisional competitors need to be members?
