BCU Yearbooks 1974 to 1980

In the days before online data and statistics we used to depend upon good old fashioned paper Yearbooks to inform us how our season had gone. My wonderful Mummy was meticulous in her record keeping of my slalom activities and this has made easy the scanning and uploading of these yearbooks. These ar...

Thank you Neil.

LOL @ Farcebook ....Faceache I heard before, this one I had not :-)

The sun does not always shine here but it is between 30 and 32 Degrees most of the time. Makes paddling very enjoyable :-)

Re: IS SHEPPERTON A DIV 1 SLALOM VENUE????????

In response to the main question here, in my opinion, yes. But if water availability is the main problem I suggest you try what we have been doing at VKC in Bedford regarding two sluice gates local to us. I am sure the first reaction to this suggestion is going to be "No chance!" because that was th...

Re: Shepperton Double Div 1/2 10th/11th March 2012

Hi Dee,

I hope you get some water and that the very well run event continues to provide an alternative, challenging Div 1 course to the downriver and man made courses. Even though I am no longer resident in the UK, I am still keeping a close eye on slalom there. Have fun!

Re: Nostalgia

Glassfibre boats, gaffer tape, zip neck cags, reverse gates and arriving by helicoptor..... ahhh that takes me back :-) And now we all know where Indiana Jones got his theme music from! Great link and great quality images too. Thanks :-)

How do we/can we address this focus on rafting for venues built for canoes/kayaks? This is an easy one CP if you think outside the box. My following solution will make these venues feel like they our built just for us. Simply change the name of our discipline from slalom to rafting and rename our b...

Interesting. When I had my eyes tested a year or so ago, the optician told me how old I was according to my vision. he was spot on. So it seems i have a very normal vision loss for my age. I am now living in deepest, darkest, southern Philippines so I have emailed them (Emerald) to see if they have...

I still had it up to April 2011 by which time it had lost the small amount of strength it was made with and it took a short trip for a long stay in the tip :-( It w...

Just stumbled upon possibly the earliest footage of a slalom anywhere! Some interesting info here....lol...very entertaining...and now we all have to say it using the correct Norwegian pronounciation! :-)
