Re: Access Awareness April 2012
Sorry poor wording on my part, I was trying to demonstrate generally to all that there are issues in all the home nations, and that Scotland is not fine, as many South of the Border are lead to believe. The legal action demonstrates a refusal of the fisheries to adhere to the access forum decision, ...

Re: Access Awareness April 2012
Thanks for the responses so far. I'll try and address a couple of points. A poll was mentioned, often polls do not capture the varying opinions and can be swayed by the wording of questions. The range of answers being given in the open format, from the different locations is giving a lot of useful f...

Re: Access Awareness April 2012
How do the padlers who will be at the selection feel? The must have an opinion. The slalom competitors themselves will be the views that will hold the most attention. They will have camera's facing them in the run up to the games, that interruption will happen as is the way with modern media report...

Re: Access Awareness April 2012
Jim thanks for that, can I ask what your opinion is in general terms about access, whether you think there are issues, how you think might be a better way of spreading the word, whether you think BCU are taking the correct course of action or might a policy like Canoe Wales be better productive?

Access Awareness April 2012
An issue that affects all recreational paddlers and domestic slalom competitors is river access. At the Olympic Slalom selection event in Lee Valley, April 2012, it is being considered whether to stage a protest to raise public awareness. To make it clear: It would not be an attempt to disrupt, dela...

James Farquharson (editor of Thames Weir Project, X GB freestyle team member) is putting forward a move to call for the new figure to be set at 1%. This figure I feel would still allow the individual disciplines (slalom/polo/wwr etc.) within the BCU the right of voice without too much disruption to...

There is a move to change the number of members required to call an EGM within the BCU from 50 members to 5% (Approx 1250) of the membership. This could effectively silence the individual disciplines from having a voice to change things within the Union. Is this an acceptable move by the BCU? There...
