Ok - without the jokes this time. I wasnt meaning to give offence if I did in my last post. During my time I have been very sucessful in getting sponsorship. However, this was always through working for/with a company. My biggest sponsor, Capital One (what's in my wallet?!!) were not interested in ...

they held selection in 1999 at Seo in preparation for the 1999 worlds. Ok good idea in principle, but for non funded and paddlers who have to pay their own way, several issues: 1. getting out there to train for a week prior to the selection week, plus cost of watertime. (because lets face it , the ...

Having just read the account of the Estanguet brothers by Bill Endicott (if you dont know who he is, SHAME on you.... ) on the ICF website here I thought I would voice my thoughts on all things wildwater. It turns out that both the Estanguet brothers started out as wilwater racers before tu...

HPP is a good place to go as in the evening there are usually some good folk to train with who will help you back into the sport. If you can speak to Nick Smith who will cut you down a 4 m slalom boat for about 70 quid as far as I remember. I believe he makes a very good job with it and the boats a...

Interesting debate - there is the argument that there has to be a selection process whereby the world championships are a one-off event and there is the pressure that someone has to perform on a one-off basis; so therefore there should be a one-off selection race which simulates as much as possible...

Have I missed the point here? there appears to be alot of people saying that it is unfair that some train really hard and dont get any funding at the end of it and then give up? Well as far as Im concerned, if those people give up at the first sign of hardship, then they arent the sort of people wh...
