Nick,
Just to clarify, the proposal is for DVs to continue in the national ranking events but to be age banded just as we do with juniors.
There is no need for seperate bibs. The DVs will just have to register their age bands as the juniors do.

Lord Lucan, those York Canoe Club lads and lasses weren't rotters - just a little 'high spirited' as I recall. If you were tucked up in bed at 10:00pm you will have missed the midnight pig riding and naked disco ........ best not go any further now ............ and all that's left to say is that th...

Yes John proposals 1 -3 are for DVs and calling the band M35 W35 etc. makes sense to me. There are a merry band of purple bibs, particularly the div 2/3s who enjoy what they are doing so why hack them off to a point where they may leave the sport? I think Duncan is right about leaving the water lev...

I know that slaloms will not run without the timing team and section judges and their efforts are valued by all. The issue here though is about the cost of getting to races and the above mentioned do receive expences. Do we want participation to grow or decrease? Maybe we just need to put a bit mor...

As part of the vets working party I've consulted with lots of Vets this year and competed at the European 'Senior' Championship in Czech. So I think it's about time to formalise a proposal for this year's ACM. The following proposals have been prepared to try to encourage participation. Therefore t...

As it looks like the cost of fuel is going to remain high I think this topic should be re-visited before next year's calender is finalised. The last poll on the singles v doubles was in favour of more doubles and this was before the major increase in fuel prices. The high cost of fuel and downturn ...

A vets get together in Bala on the Saturday night of the Graveyard sounds good to me ........ so if you are taking bookings we'll have a couple of seats please. Another suggestion that came in from Phil Gooding on making vets more meaningful, is to introduce the age bands (whatever they end up bein...

In response to Spiderman Most people I've spoken to are going for 10 year bands for slalom. The decision is whether to start at 35 or 40. The details of the European(Vets) Senior Cup are on the homepage of this website, posted by Jim Croft. The Tully/Washburn thinking for a possible Vets World Cham...

As I'm on the working party I've taken the opportunity to talk to vets at Bala Prem/1 and Tully 1/2. Of the people I've talked to so far the collective views are: - Encouraging paddlers to keep/return to competition can only be good for the sport - 35 is still a bit young to be a vet - Paddlers not...

In season promotion also gives up and coming paddlers more 'pressure' racing situations. When someone knows they need to come in the top three to gain promotion at say their 8th race of the season it really focusses their attention to that race. Rather than thinking they have another 7 races to gai...

Purple bibs Prem/1 to Div 1 and Div2/3s to Div2 sounds fair enough as they will then find the natural level through the ranking system. The only exception being if someone's results at this year's Prem races would have kept them in Prem then that is were they should be ranked. If anyone disagrees w...

I agree with Katonas that if we introduce over 40s, 50s and 60s leagues the purple bib vets competitions are no longer necessary. Also there is no need to burden organisers to provide trophies at each event just have end of season awards for 1st 2nd and 3rd for each category and the winners listed ...

This an excellent idea Anne. In the absence of an offical older vets competition we ran our own for over 50's this year. The rules were £10 in each and the top ranked over 50 man at the end of the season took the cash. So congratulations go to Martyn Setchell as this year's winner. Martyn also had ...

There have been a number of points made about time, effort and expence given by volunteers needed to run events. As it was decided to reduce the amount of Div 1s this year the Yorkshire committee were not allowed the double Div 1 and the Div 1 with the Prem event as in previous years at Washburn. T...
