Yes, you're right it is, and don't get me wrong I think Lauren's great, but when you think canoeing is still recovering from the aftermath of Lyme Regis and with all the current dubious press around Mr Darwin, we don't need this kind of publicity! Not to mention the Access campaign. The BCU have sp...

I am a level 2 slalom coach, who did my course with Banbury Canoe Club too many years ago to remember. My beloved Slalom coaches handbook has finally, totally fallen apart and pages are missing but I am having a 'mare trying to get a replacement. The Coaches section of the BCU website talks about t...

I live in Essex and we have had fixed Spring breaks for the past 2 years. The Spring break is always the same two weeks, irrespective of when Easter falls. Sometimes Easter is included, while other years we get Good Friday and Easter Monday as a long weekend on their own. Spring break this year is ...

At the risk of showing my age, and in the light of 2012 approaching would it be worth speaking to one of the TV companies, terrestrial or otherwise about relaunching Paddles Up or something similar. It could be done as an international event, or I think it would be better as a UK event, highlightin...

I must be getting old - I'm in agreement with you guys on this - I was taught that bow rudders should be in front of the body, with the arm braced across the head and the boat flat with good depth of the blade to get the leverage. As a level 2 slalom coach I worry about the damage done to shoulder ...

Just to clarify, the BCU are saying that those BCU members who already hold Coach Level 1-3 will not be affected by any direct need to retrain as the BCU will continue to recognise those awards. Presumably this will continue to suffice for Clubs etc. People will be able to transfer to the new schem...

As Mum to 2 quite little paddlers who have enjoyed some slaloms in the past 12 months, I find the way clubs handle very young paddlers inconsistent to say the least! Some clubs really welcome younger paddlers (Peterborough deserve a special mention here!!!) allowing them plenty of time to complete ...

Has anyone started compiling a list of volunteers for the 2012 Olympics yet? I know it's a wee bit early, and I have already signed up for general volunteering but I would prefer to do something specifically related to Slalom. I am a qualified gate judge (although not international) and my kids wil...

Dear Jim, Thanks for your swift reply, it hadn't occured to me that I had gained promotion on the D3K1M scores - apologies for using the chat rooms too, it's been too many years since I last got promoted and I've forgotten how all this stuff works. We will apply for our bibs to the relevant bib off...

Dear Confused I am glad to hear that your ranking was correct, sadly mine and my husbands are not! I am listed in Div 2, based on NR SS postings, when in fact I only competed in 2 ranking slaloms this year. By my reckoning I should have a bib no. near the top of Div 3. I did compete at Yalding at t...

Hi all, Any ideas on where I can get an ACCURATE ranking list for 2006? From comments made about there definitely not being any end of season promotions, the ranking list that appears on this site isn't correct. Also, it's been years since I was ranked across the end of one season into the next, do...
