While I agree that Div 2 would benefit from some more consistant difficulty of water I don't think it is as simple as that. More difficult water would mean the current lower third of Div 1 would be worried about going to a Div 2 ! That's no good either. The Divisional system is much more top heavy ...

John you contend that new promotees are ready for Division 1 but many obviously disagree and prefer to attend Llandysul instead of the Town Falls. Nick Penfold also stated that in his email to you. You quite rightly say Coaches encourage paddlers to judge at a Div 1 while they are still in Div 2. I...

I have difficulty in voting on this one. You can't select all four ! I think the biggest difficulty for a jury chair when faced with a sobbing child and angry parent is that by being generous to that competitor is also treating all the other competitors in that class unfairly. Good guidelines would...

I too, was pleased to see the post from non paddler and I understand his wish to hear another view point. On another thread I posted “And that's the question really. When you turn up to a Div 1, are you there to train/practice, or are you there to race?” There are many (too many?) Division 1 slalom...

The topic was "Aggregate runs NO practice". In fact the ICF rules do still allow a non stop practice run at the descretion of the organiser though I don't know of an occasion when they have allowed it. What I was trying to get at is that the rules of Canoe Slalom as defined by the ICF are Aggregate...

These are the "NEW" rules we are talking about so passionately on other topics the last couple of weeks. I was looking on eauxvives.fr and someone started a new topic, on monday, on practice (non-stop) The link is here non-stop . Interesting that they can't remember when practice disappeared. Was i...

Why would the slalom committee be bothered either way. They don't paddle (well mostly). They are actually trying to make the sport better. If this is an issue for you then voice your opinion (which I think you have done admirably) but don't keep accusing others of deliberately trying to mess up the...

Perhaps there is someone who (not surprisingly after that barrage of abuse) doesn't want to be re-elected onto the committee.

And that's the question really. When you turn up to a Div 1, are you there to train/practice, or are you there to race? Open Practice for Div 1 is generally a farce, anyway. Some races police practice as though they were more important than the races themselves while others turn their back and don'...

I should think Anne is considering her resignation now, after that. Perhaps, you should ask the question - "will we be better off?". I don't think there is a better candidate waiting in the wings. If there was, I'm sure Anne would be pleased to get rid of the headache. Stick to your guns, Anne. Peo...

I think most people agree that the rule should go. It has not been a great success for those promoted last year. Also, quite a few paddlers stay away deliberately which weekens the field. Due to in season promotion in Div 1 the strength of competition is not so high at this time of year anyway. If ...

Not having gone to the same depth of research as above, my understanding of the accepted practice here is that: A protest is required If someone is impeded by a natural obsticle than that is bad luck. If a paddler catches another (providided they have not previously missed gates) then they should g...
