Abbey Div 2/3 - 25th May
Firstly we would like to thank everyone who attended today for you patience and support! Having to cancel both the Div 3 and in the end the Div 2 races was not something any of us did lightly, but with safety concerns for the Div 3s and river level changes for the Div 2s we felt this was unfortunate...

Re: Can we improve any part of Canoe Slalom?
perhapse these things should have been considered before building artificial courses in the middle of nowhere with no river next to it, or even so far down a river that they are so badly affected by the tide they have to install pumps. HPP is not perfect but is usually flowing whether any paddlers a...

Re: Open Divisions
Two things Breaking something to see if you can fix it is madness. We have a good, easy to follow and progressive structure to the sport at the moment. I can't see how destroying the current ranking system will attract and retain any paddlers to the sport, and in my opinion it will probably have the...

Re: Can we improve any part of Canoe Slalom?
I quite enjoy; the 4 at a time slalom sprint (but maybe use faceguards!) the old Grand Prix style race, 1 run all gates any direction, no penalties but a 50 and your out. and teamruns. i wouldn't be too fussed about all division events as I can go and judge at those and have a social weekend anyway.

Re: Official Practice
I stand corrected!
So the only time you are only allowed to present a gate once on a run is your official practice. You live and learn.

Re: The Future of British Slalom??
maybe they could be encouraged to run friendly competitions within their club on weekend days. I think most bigger slalom clubs have regualr group training sessions during the week and at weekends. If your trying to go outside the club set up and look at regional type events then it starts becoming...

Re: Open Divisions
Events need judges! if we have a completely open system who will judge? Part of my development as a junior was going to higher division events and judging to get experience on harder courses and water. Did I miss a trick? Also this will completely remove a lot of the attraction to certain races, whe...

Re: Official Practice
whilst my original post was a little on the sarcastic side i stand by the general themes within them, there is nothing in the rules of the sport to to stop people attempting to complete gates multipul times in any one run, therefore in any practice offical or otherwise a competitor can attemp any ga...

Re: Official Practice
two seperate things. official practice - if your on a run you can do each gate in the course as many times as you like. you'll get a rubbish result but there are no limits to the number of times you can pass through a gate as long as you complete it in numerically accending order. in my opinion offi...

Llandyssul in May is a lot easier than Cardington. Are you going to stop the Llandyssul Div 2 because it is too easy?
This kind of cements my point about Div 1 courses! if you think the place is too easy for a div 2 how do they get a double div 1 every year??

Re: 2/3/4 slaloms not allowed
Though still wouldn't address the issue that it is not Div 2 standard... I'm sure I've ranted about this before but i wouldn't limit this to cardington, there are a lot of div 2 venues are on the easy side. but then again there are a lot of div 1 venues which are hardly more than a little splash. B...

Re: 2/3/4 slaloms not allowed
I dont see the issue? we run a SC 4 on abbey using stopwatches, no need for a big drama about altering start gates or the tutti set up. I believe that you may even be able to run a race over exactly the same course with certain gates removed from the judging, but i dont have a rule book to hand to c...
