I have on more than one occassion asked for extra time (especially in the C1 which I do for a laugh and do badly!) and the starters have always been great in giving me the extra time as I have always given a reason (and I trust legitimate one) for asking for it. I concur with PhilG, it is worth ask...

Does anyone know how the points are calculated for C2? I though if it was quorate (over 3) it would be split as in K1 (out of 1000). If it is not quorate it would be compared against the men's times? This is then halved if a Div 3 event. If this is correct I am not sure how the points at Marple div...

I like the thought of this - especially when standing around in my kit all day and there are some good arguments for it BUT the problems would be (as far as I can see): 1. People in multiple events (for example at Marple I was in the C1 and C2, doing 4 runs in half a day would have left me in even ...

Ta very much for the offer. I would love to come along and may well do during the winter. Unfortunately (the joys of commuting) I can't get to Bedford and be on the water until about 19:45 so would miss about an hour of a Tuesday paddle :-( Thanks for the parking tips, have passed them on to the ot...

I would be interested if someone who had "been there, done that" could come along for a few hours and give our slalomists a few pointers. I guess though as we have 6 ranked K1 paddlers, 2 ranked C1 paddlers (ha, ha,ha to one of those!!!)and a ranked C2 team (and I fit into all of those categories!)...

The BCU Slalom Committee are responsible for slalom from both the grass roots level to the top of the sport. Unfortunately at times as all are volunteers, most with full time jobs some areas become neglected and little development takes place. Coaching days have in recent years been put on for non ...

Agreed that things are more complex than just cost but using your example £10 for a day at HPP or £10 (Div 3) for 2 runs (maybe 3 if you get a full practice) down the same course in a slalom competition? Most of my club seem to prefer the former. I vote for eating more from the refreshment tents - ...

On the point of numbers... Last year was my first full K1 one season. I got into the sport because I was talked into giving the C2 a go by a friend of mine, enjoyed it, was then talked into trying the K1. I think that one of the main barriers to entry is cost/ time. No, I am not having a go at the ...

Oh, and I am one of the lucky ones that sits on the floor of the train to commute - not sure what that does to my carbon footprint but footprint or not, if I could drive in the same time I would as I object to paying First Capital Connect £3k+ per annum for a bit of floor space and poor service.

Ah, I listed the Vets discussion because it is currently live and Shepperton because it was the last one I posted on. No other reasons (at this time in the morning I am not awake enough to think more deeply than that!). I would start a post if I had anything I wanted to ask but usually if I have a ...

I only reply to topics I think I can say something worthwhile in. I am not a Vet and don't know how the current system works so was interested in reading the thread but do not have any thoughts as to how the system should be run. On the other hand I was at Shepperton so felt that I could comment on...

I am one of the Div 2's that did enter in advance and pulled out of the Sunday. As you can see from above I did learn a lot from the course, intend to go back next year (after more practice :-)) and enjoyed myself. The reasons that I did not go back: 1. I gathered the course would be more difficult...
