2015 Vauxhall Vivaro Day Van/Paddling Van

I'm selling my Vauxhall Vivaro day van/ paddling van conversion as I currently can't drive. It's been insulated, lights fitted, curtains fitted and a roof rack, but hasn't had a bed fitted in so that it's still possible to load it up with boats. It's all put together with torx screws, so it's easy t...

Re: Slalom Paddles Wanted

If you can't get something 2nd hand, TNP Rapas might be a good shout, they're really lightweight and fairly hard wearing with plastic blades, but not the strongest shaft in the world (should be fine for div3). They're a fairly inexpensive general WW paddle. Desperate Measures in Nottingham might be ...

Re: Event Safety

Event safety is important but this is just a load of bull designed to retain the salaries of staff that contribute so little to the sport... Not sure I agree with this; while I'd question motivations of somethings, I don't think the reason for holding the course (which will have to have some fees) ...

Re: bcu membership for judges

I don't think you really need to take the membership cards: you're still covered by your insurance whether you're carrying a membership card or not!

Vajda Kapsl 2 - Large - VGC

Vajda Kapsl 2 Large - Elite - £850 * Early IRC, and a "Fabien Lefevre" stye lowered cockpit. 65-80kg. Very Good Condition: Two repairs, both on the inside, pressure laminated and bombproof. Mainly from the first time I used it.. The boat has spent most of it's life sat at home, while I've been at un...

RAAB XX10 - left blade (or whole paddle for a good price)

Pretty self explanatory, I've broken 5 left blades over time, and never a right blade!

If you've got a left blade attached to a shaft or a paddle, I can probably remove it.

Cheers!

Re: Where to get good standard grip

I used to use surf wax, but I found in cold water it made things worse, and when you forget to put it on again, it's a disaster. I rubbed my shaft down with 40 grit sandpaper, which will give more grip that you could ever want, and actually tore up my hands at first. My favourite solution, which I u...

Re: Tutty - just thoughts on the future

MikeR - WiFi range is really not difficult to achieve - using suitable equipment. It's actually possible with normal home equipment - with the right modifications, you can boost the majority of routers to transmit several times the power. The problem is more that Tablet/Phone receivers aren't great...

Re: Tutty - just thoughts on the future

I'd personally say that simple analogue wireless schemes, such as FM or AM, aren't particularly unreliable at all - in terms of hardware - it's actually almost exactly the same as the wired equipment that we have already, with no wires to break! I don't see any reason why the Wi-Fi scheme should be ...

FS: Vajda Kapsl 36L £450 ono

Hi guys, Vajda Kapsl 36L (70 - 80kg, though I paddled it at 65). Racing Spec. Red glitter, with a black design on the deck (will get a photo up) This was my boat for a couple of seasons, bought back in 2010, and I've had a few new ones since. It's had a hard life & quite a few repairs, but, the hull...

Re: Tutty - just thoughts on the future

FM Wireless is such an obvious option, that I've thought about it several times over the decades. However it doesn't provide reliable comms. The most serious problem is lack of channels. Our slalom site is within half a mile of a large industrial estate, where lots of people are using "license free...

Re: Our sport is a mess

How do we invest money at a grass roots level? What can we spend it on, that would make a difference to the sport? Maybe it would be possible to make more money available if there was a way of spending it that seemed useful. Manchester Canoe Club for example, has had a lot of money spent on boats et...

Re: Our sport is a mess

Ooo first I've heard of grants being available, nice to know! The lack of take up of the funding is something that should be addressed - lack of publicity might be something to address? (though I knew about it, Duncan obviously didn't) Yes, this is something which I tried to put emphasis on at out ...

Re: Our sport is a mess

This kind of development within the clubs is the main aim of the Canoe England Slalom Committee, and a secondary aim is also to promote the identity of England, as a home nation, and a team to belong to. And as a committee, we have money for development projects of any type, from money for poles and...
