Ogmore Slalom 14th & 15th June

Just a reminder that the Double Div 3 & 4 race in Bridgend is coming up very soon!

Entries have started arriving. Cards & cheques before the event are preferred. However entry on the day is also possible.

An ideal event for novices and more junior paddlers. Hope to see you there.

Re: Ranking Database 2014

May I echo Peter C's comment. Having this last year was a real boon; and it looks even better this year.

Re: Premier division schedule 2014

Wow! It was never my intention for this thread to become so heated - and my post was not a dig at the committee, nor clubs.
I was simply sharing my surprise at the gap between the March & September Prem races.

Thanks to the contributions I can now see this gap has a lot of logic to it.

Premier division schedule 2014

Has anyone else noticed there is a 6 month gap between races next season?
That seems a very long time for those not participating in selection/international racing.

Re: Open Divisions

Having read a lot in this thread about Prems & Div 1's; and noticed there's much less about Divs 2/3/4 may I offer another perspective? Slalom is frequently regarded as a family sport; brothers/sisters/Mums & Dads often paddling the same events. Also, youngsters like having a go at kayaks and canadi...

Re: 2/3/4 slaloms not allowed

Actually I think the problem with division 2 at the moment is a much more fundamental one around the imbalance of course difficulty. Of the 38 races in the div 2 calendar this year, 9 are div 1/2s, 5 are div 2s and 24 are div 2/3s or 2/3/4s. I think that the imbalance is obvious. One outcome of thi...

Re: McConkey Slalom 2012

Only attended Sunday, so can't comment on Saturday. Agree with much already commented on: organisation/timing etc. all spot on. Lack of showers/limited loos were disappointing, though these things happen. My main comment regards the course difficulty. Most posts suggest people are very happy; the Pr...

Thanks Canadian Paddler.
I think I follow; though wouldn't it be nice to have clarity with this explained & all in 1 place?

C2 age definitions

Can anyone help me with the specific rule(s) on allocating ages for C2 pairings? Handbook page 57 clarifies that the younger age is taken for masters; while page 77 confirms that most paddlers must be junior for the pair to be considered so. While I have assumed a J12/J16 pair is categorised as J16;...

Re: Ogmore Slalom

Many thanks to all the paddlers, parents, friends & helpers who made the Ogmore Slalom work so well again this year. Although the river was swift and quite high, the only boat/paddler separation (I know of) was the penultimate paddler on Sunday, while we accommodated a J5 & J6 among the many junior ...

Ogmore Slalom

Preparations are well under way for this Div 3/4 event in South Wales. The river level is good to low; the weather forecast suggests it might rise a little over the next couple of days. Entries are being taken until late Saturday morning. Why not come down to Bridgend & have a go? See http://www.bri...
