It appears that there is a problem with some of the results posted on Canaoeslalom.co.uk from the Ironbridge 2/3 race. This will be corrected as soon as possible.

In air a lead weight of 6.12kg would exert a downward force of 6.12 x 9.81 N = 60N. However, when the lead weight is put in water it will exert a downward force somewhat less. For further details contact Dr Archimedes who knows lots about this subject.

Kendal. I beg to disagree. Providing the holes are above the water line they will lighten the boat and it will thus sit higher in the water. Don't take it anywhere too rough.

James. It might lower the value slightly, but what choice do you have?

When kids capsize for the first few times, whatever age, they need someone near them in a boat to fish them out etc. They don't have to be strong swimmers and they have a bouyancy aid and a boat to hold on to. They often struggle to get out of the boat but, that has nothing to do with swimming. Hav...

Stuart. You've convinced me. I'll run this year instead of risking injury by getting a runner caught in my front wheel as I descend back down from the stile.

One of the few times you will see style and me in the same sentance I do believe.

Pogies were the tactic for many during their warm up before the start of the Stone Mini second round. The bank around the warmup pool was littered with them with the resulting confusion over subsequent ownership. Most were restored to their rightful owners, but, if you picked up a pair with two saf...

A competant starter should generally spot ability differences in the start pool and set a slower paddler off 10 secs early and the following paddler 10 secs late. This gives the slower paddler an extra 20 seconds without disrupting the programme and still maintains the minimum 45 second interval. Y...

More likely to have been Melvyn Jones. Richard, Melvyn and Andy Gladwin (Spike) trained together at Stone at the time.

Melvyn Swallow was a River Racer from Chester, I think.
