Re: Hexham Slalom Location?
I haven't got a Yearbook to hand (it would be really useful if organisers were sent a copy), but I can confirm that the Google map location in the Slalom Entries system is incorrect - I had already added some text about the venue, including the correct postcode. The OS map reference is Map 87 Ref NY...

Wark div 2/3/4 - 7th - 8th September
Following the death of Lorraine Glendenning, an instrumental member of the organising team, the event is going ahead as planned. Lorraine worked tirelessly to bring the two events we hold each year in her home village about and we aim to make it a success in her honour. As usual there is on-site cam...

James Harrison Memorial - Water Levels
We have received a message from the Environment Agency today (our usual contact was on compassionate leave all last week) A colleague picked up that she’d arranged the release with NWL several weeks ago and confirmed that NWL were happy to release 15.4cumecs. Innogy (hydro generators at Kielder) ame...

How to make my life easier!
I have organised two events per year for the last few years - but it seems that for the last year or so that doesn't warrant sending me a yearbook. I want to pay my levies and get the paperwork sorted for one of these events but.... I have to fill in multiple identical fields in the spreadsheet - on...

Wark div 2/3/4 Sept 8/9
Just a quick note to confirm that the event will run and late fees are not being charged. Our release from Kielder has not yet been confirmed, but if necessary we can move the event to deeper water downstream of the usual course. As usual, we have an indoor area competitors can use should it be wet ...

Thanks to all competitors and (even more so) to helpers who made the weekend such a success. We hope to see you again over the 8/9 September weekend when we will hopefully be able to organise some warmer weather. Online and postal entries are open for September.

Note added Fri 8th. For caravans arriving Friday 8th April. Road closed signs along east bank of North Tyne. Diversion is very narrow. May be difficult for caravans. Re: Automating Slalom Returns
I asked this question a year or so ago and was told (by Jim Croft) that a K1 entry one day and a C1 the other should be charged as two singles but is eligible for a Multiclass discount (presumably as it is a double event, rather than two separate single events).

Re: The Old Safety Chestnut
The safety issues at HPP seemed to be exaccerbated by the running order. It felt as though someone had thought "Right, which class is likely to have the most swimmers - OK lets send the C1 women down first!" This meant that for official practice there was no-one at the bottom of the course when thre...

Just Noticed that the documents in the Organiser's pack all seem to have the BCU logo - I guess I have something to fill in my time if I get a spare moment before the Wark slalom at the weekend!

Re: Wark (Tynedale) div 2/3/open 4/5/April
The environment agency have proposed a 15.4 cumec release from 6:00 am on 3rd April to 6:00 am on 5th, but then ramping down to 1.32 cumecs. We have spoken to the area hydrologist who deals with the releases and she believes that it takes about 12 hours for the flow to reach Reaverhill guage (about ...

Backup stopwatches
Any recommendations? I gather that they should time to at least 1/10th accuracy (our old ones do - but only for 30 minutes). There seem to be plenty of cheap ones advertised as timing to 1/100th to 23 hours 59 mins - but they don't appear to do it - some more expensive ones appear to time to 1/100th...
