Re: 6.10 Portable points proposal with a view to implement 2
Portable points is a fundamental change to the current system, therefore, it should be a change that is beneficial to the majority of paddlers. Yes I can see some benefits, but not to the majority, such that I feel this is a change for the sake of change and not moving slalom forward.

Re: 6.9 Paddle Up Token
Like the proposal for portable points, PU is over complicated, and only benefits a handful of paddlers. If a paddler is good enough they will gain promotion points in their own division and be promoted to the next division. Paddling up should be a way of gain experiencing in a higher division before...

Re: 6.10 Portable points proposal with a view to implement 2
The principal of what is being proposed is clear, but how many paddlers will it really benefit? We should be more focused on developing paddlers to become better paddlers, than focusing on accumulating points as quickly as possible. If a paddler develops, becomes better over time, then by default th...

Re: 6.6 Womens C1 Divisions P/1
Just to add to the concerns I've already raised, how do you propose to deal with those paddlers who had a short season, there are 20 in total?

Re: 6.6 Womens C1 Divisions P/1
Michelle I wasn't being critical of your suggestion, it does make sense. I was merely making an observation that when you look at the number of races the top 10 paddlers entered in 2014, they entered an average of 7 races each, except for two of the paddlers. Therefore, whilst I agree with the motio...

Re: 6.6 Womens C1 Divisions P/1
I agree with the motion proposed as it is evident from watching C1W races that there is a big difference in the ability and standard between the top and bottom of the division. However, I’ve not convinced it’s a simple motion to execute, which is why I suspect no cut off point has been put forward b...

Re: Lee Valley Prem 10 (British Open)
I agree with Boatmum the position should be aligned to the points scored for the LV Prem race, and not the British Open position on Saturday. They are two separate events running in parallel. Unlike the LV Prem/British Open, the McConkey race was a single event over two days, so the position/points ...

Re: British Open 2014
Hi In the last BCU Slalom Committee meeting minutes it stated: 6.1.2 British Open It is confirmed that this is to be an international open. There will be no paddling up allowed for division 1 paddlers, although the top ten paddlers in division 1 will be invited to attend. Will the top ten division 1...

Re: Tees Barrage P/1/2 - 20/21 Sept
Hi, I am trying to contact the Tees race organiser Rachel Tonks. I exchanged emails last Thursday 11th September with Rachel, but I have not received an email response since. I'm not sure if Rachel is away, but I would be grateful if anyone who knows Rachel or connected to Tees could ask Rachel to r...

HPP boat store Break-in - Kit stolen
The boat store at HPP was broken into last night (Sunday), it was also broken into last Sunday. This time several paddles and BAs have been stolen.
Can those who store their boats/kit at HPP check if anything is missing, and if so report it missing at the reception desk.

Re: Grandtully Division 1/2 and Pan Celtic
Great event and very well organised, and the sun was out all weekend. Well done Chris and all those who helped run the event, lovely catering and perfect parking. Best parking at Tully ever. Only one gripe, the course design on Saturday! Given the perfect water levels, it was crying out for a good c...

Re: GB Selection Policy
JJayes I like the idea, it's simple, straightforward and removes any discretion being applied etc. However, I can't see the IP going for it on the grounds of cost - they would have no get out of jail card without the LV race to curb their costs by hoping paddlers don't make the percentages. Which tw...

Re: GB Selection Policy
It is my understanding that the race venues were changed in response to feedback on cost and training requirements. I also understand that there was an agreement between the home nations that they would rotate, such that they each home nation would run a race in 2 of the following 3 years. Wales wer...

Re: GB Selection Policy
When I started this post it was to raise my concerns over the selection of the GB Junior European team, or more specifically, the execution of the Selection Policy. I was chastised for labelling this post as the GB Junior European team, and I changed it to GB Selection Policy. I still stand by my po...
