Re: 6.3 Remove Paddle Up

Rule D5.3 states that "At any event if there is a shortage of judges, the organiser may require paddlers ( or their nominated substitutes ) to judge or undertake other official duties, in consultation with the Chief Judge. So, we have the mechanism to get parents nominated to judge in place of their...

Re: 2016 Calendar

So were you seriously waiting for Michelle to chase you up about it? Michelle cannot chase every single club that did not submit on time or let her know what they want to run. I'm sure she has far better things to do. The onus is on the clubs to submit for an event ON TIME and if they have any doubt...

Re: National Prizes

A plea from me. Have you had your name engraved on the trophy? Make sure the trophies are clean!! Fed up of cleaning them every year. If they have a box they need to come back in the box. If you have lost the box please find one that it will fit. If you cant find one, try Hobbycraft. They hav...

Re: Officials/Judges Ranking

Can I also remind organisers that rule 6.1.2 states that a competitor may not enter both a ranking event and an Officials event in the same or different category. I am finding a few who are doing a ranking run as well as an officials run, usually a C2 run.

Just means more work for me

Officials/Judges Ranking

Can I please point out that I do not require to have the entry cards sent to me after a race has been completed. I have had several sent to me which is very kind, but I really don't need them. Save the postage. E mail me the results instead.

Thanks

Re: If the Answer is 42, what is the Question?

So are you saying that if a club has, say, 4 or more people go to a slalom you expect that club to send a judge? Nice theory but sorry I don't see it working. If clubs went to slaloms as a 'club trip' then it could work and often that already happens at lower divisions. But, we don't have a 'club' c...

Re: If the Answer is 42, what is the Question?

Regional assistance/Section Judges/Timing: These days we need more and more "qualified" people to attend and be present at races. This is going to make it harder to run races without breaking the rules and will discourage organisers from running races. Don't shoot me but I wonder whether we could r...

Re: On-line Entry System - Requirements/Rules/Solutions

What would you do about div 4 entries who have no bib number and how would they know where to enter? Also ( wearing my Officials compliers hat) the system must be able to recognise that IF someone tries to enter a ranking race AND the do a judges it must be able to refuse the officials run. In which...

Re: Really boys? Put it away...

Absolutely NOT a Judge !!!!! They have more sense than to pee under the bridge in full view of the public and they would be offended at the suggestion that it was one of them. Besides it was definitely one of the younger paddlers in full paddling kit, I saw him ! Considering he had probably just com...

Re: Really boys? Put it away...

Well said Baldock Babe. Luckily for the one at Lee Valley this weekend the 2 ladies walking over the bridge at the time didn't look over the side! These people are not giving the sport a good reputation let alone themselves. Maybe we should write something into the rules, but then again most of them...

Food Hygiene at Slaloms

As some of you are probably aware the rules regarding Food Hygiene have been tightened in the last few years. The latest missive from Europe is about labelling foods for Allergens. For the last few weeks I have been trying to get a definitive ruling on exactly what we, as occasional caterers providi...

Re: Yearbooks

Various people will be carrying cards with them to events this year so should make it easier to get some. Wasn't at year book packing this year so cant comment on why your pack didn't get any.

Re: Race Calendar

We were one of several people who carried a box of year books around with us to events in case anybody wanted one. If you don't get one, find us at an event and we'll gladly give you one. :)

Re: 6.9 Paddle Up Token

Paddling up should be a way of gain experiencing in a higher division before actually being in that division, I recollect they used to call this a judges run and it worked rather well.
