Re: Boat Weight Rules
I suspect the rule change was driven by influential people from the Southern Hemisphere who have lots of clout with the ICF. Although there could be some element of truth in that I think that is a bit harsh to say. Many of the non-European competitors have two boats, one based at home and one in Eu...

Re: Boat Weight Rules
I'd be surprised if all of the objections on this site change the rule - so it doesn't matter if i agree or not - i'll put my efforts into getting my son's boats the right weight for the season rather than moaning about it :D :D I like that! Perhaps the objections should have been raised at the ACM...

Re: 2018 Selection
I don't see there is much choice if they insist on running senior selection over three days. If they move it to another weekend then the volunteers will have to take annual leave to assist which may leave us short of help. The alternative is to cut selection to 2 days.

Unfortunately Colin you are preaching to the converted, those that participate in this forum are representative of the very active, very valuable members of our community. We need to reach those that arrive at events, sit in their groups on their nice comfy camping chairs, munching on their picnic w...

Re: 6.5 UKC19.8 Staying In The Finish Area After Your Run.
What would mitigating circumstances be? I don't like the idea of there being ambiguity - there is currently none in the existing rule and adding ambiguity males the chief judges life harder. Is a lack of knowledge of the rule mitigating circumstances (I would argue not? From hours of sitting on the ...

Re: 6.5 UKC19.8 Staying In The Finish Area After Your Run.
As a chief judge I did enforce the old rule at Tees on more than once occasion and I would do the same at future events. Actually, as the rule is drafted the chief judge has no discretion as to whether or not to enforce the rule - it says WILL be disqualified, not MAY. I think this makes it easier o...

Re: ICF Rule Changes
7.1.2 Minimum Weight of Boats All types of K1 and C1 9 kg. All types of C2 15 kg. So is it fair to say that K1 & C1 will need to weigh 9kg next season? if thats the case there will be a high number of boats needing weights adding & people may need to consider buying a top spec full carbon boat in t...

Re: ICF Rule Changes
If you think of the Olympics (or the 2012 Games, or any international over the past 6 or 7 years, boats have not been held. So this change is bringing the rule more into line with practice. . They were in Foz... But the reality is that at most venues it is not really practical and the job of holdin...

Re: Demos - Paddle up + Portable points impacting numbers?
. But those voting in favour of portable points believe the benefits outweigh the downsides. Personally I disagree, I think we are trying to fix something that isn't broken for a small number of paddlers. . I agree!!! I thought that as the committee had dropped PP as a motion that this would finall...

Re: Lee Valley Div2/Open
Surely the issue is not who owns what venue but who can bring the most influence to bear. In these instances one would have thought British Canoeing who can hopefully represent their members :D They do - hence the events we already hold at those venues. If we want more events there is capacity to d...
