2018 Selection

The selection policy states the following -

SECTION 5 - 2018 ADVANCED INFORMATION
Qualification for Great Britain Senior & U23 selection 2018
The International Panel intends that a 3 race senior & U23 selection series will be held at Lee Valley Whitewater centre over the Easter weekend in 2018.
The IP will work collaboratively with Home Nation programme leads to identify suitable race opportunities and timings for junior selection in 2018. The International Panel will confirm dates and venue(s) for 2018 junior and senior team selection series by 19th April 2017. This will assist the development of an appropriate managed calendar for the 2018 season.

Easter 2018 is Sunday 1st April.

Easer weekend is traditionally one of the 2 consecutive weekends racing at Grandtully so either the Double Prem or Double Div 1. This allowed a good weeks training at Grandtully in the week in between the races by all those paddlers who were on holiday.

By having selection over Easter weekend, this opportunity is one again lost. Junior Selection for 2018 has not been decided but by having Senior/U23 selection over Easter weekend, it will make it harder to have a Junior Selection race at a Grandtully prem. Would be interested to know others views.

I don't see there is much choice if they insist on running senior selection over three days. If they move it to another weekend then the volunteers will have to take annual leave to assist which may leave us short of help. The alternative is to cut selection to 2 days.
