Is it just me or has anybody else (of a certain age) noticed the distinct lack of etiquette shown at slaloms nowadays. The youngsters these days can't be bothered to wait their turn when sitting in eddies, or don't care if they pull out in front of someone coming down the course. It would never have happened in the good old days !!!
Your thoughts, comments, please tell me I am not alone

Been like it for for a few years. Seems to be a general thing, not just canoeing.
As you say, some of us are getting older, and things ain't like they used to be.

To be honest I think that the generalisation of "the youngsters" is a bit harsh unless you mean it to mean anyone under the age of 60. I agree that some people can't be bothered to wait but from my experience of river running and slalom I would say that it is people of all ages that are guilty of it. I think it comes down to personality rather than age.
Ps. I am 31, young to some, old to others...

Sharp spike on the tip of the boat and some integral razor blades along the edge of the paddles always works for me!! ( over 21)

i think its more to do with coaches calling paddlers down without checking for others, although i know paddlers should check aswell...

Once they have been speared by a boat they will look in future! if not it will happen again (over 21) just!!

It isnt just youngsters, everyone is guilty of it. To be honest from my experience it is the lower end paddler, where the problem lyes. This is probably because inexperience not due to rudeness. i think it should be brought into coaching. When they first start out they need to be taught the etiquette of paddling. (18 Years old)

Cheers for all the responses, having thought more about this I have come to the conclusion that I am just getting old (47) and that my level of patience is not what it used to be, I will however persevere 'cos I enjoy it so much
