2/3 Veterans rankings

Post by Terryg » Fri Oct 26, 2012 8:15 pm

Dave Radmore has compiled results which are listed on the Slalom site.

I have also compiled results and have submitted them to the ranking list compiler for confirmation. I am awaiting a reply.

My results and Dave's generally agree, but there are a few differences:

My listing is

1 Terry Griffiths 3489 points
2 Dave Quinn 3484 points (Dave R. check your Tully & Fairnilee points)
3 Dave Radmore 3362 points
4 Roy Garriock 1244
5 Steve Linkstead 927
6 Steve Raynor 820
7 Pete Bedingfield 816
8 Paul French 643
9 Nia Chappel 525
10 Danny Dalrymple 233
11 D Wells 67
12 Roger Wisdom 43

Anyone disagree?

Terry,
My calculations tie in with yours, and you sneaked it by 5 points!!!!. Dave's getting old so his counting isn't so good.

Looking forward to next year already !!!! :D

Cheers

Davie Quinn

Expected you two to overtake me at Matlock.

Think Dave's still a bit younger than me, so not sure he can use age as an excuse.

Terry,
Must admit had a pretty poor Matlock and was disappointed by my paddling (going to use my new boat as an excuse Sorry Dave), really love my new boat and will see its benefits nrext season. :D

Following Yalding, I now have Pete Bedingfield on 1216 points, moving him up to fifth.

These are my rankings, based on published results, and are not official.

Nia Chappel will probably be taken out of this list and ranked as a women (No 1?).

Best 4, or total if less than 4 competed.

In that case I have 1460 points, should have been credited with 294 at Yalding on the 27th, paddling my old JC Streaker, combined age of boat n paddler is 100!

So how do these points work, then? Yalding was Div 3 so I, as a Div 2 Vet, got no points (as with all the other Div 3 events I've taken part in) but Peter (who I beat!) gets 294???!!!

Simples: :D
B5.1.2. A K1 or C1 Veteran ranked in Division 3 may enter any Division 2 or Division 3 competition and will be awarded ranking points and be eligible for prizes.
B5.1.3. A K1 or C1 Veteran ranked in Division 2 may enter any Division 2 or Division 3 competition and will be eligible for prizes, although they will only be awarded ranking points in the Division 2 event
Peter is ranked as a div 3 vet, so earns points at Yalding, your are div 2, so do not. Its the problem of being goood once.

Just remember "The older I get the better I was!"

Ah, but you weren't paddling a floppy 36 year old vessel with no footrests and a paddle hewn from a treetrunk. And you obviously once had talent! Should be easy to sort this....just rank the D2 vets ahead of D3. I guess same thing applies to Prem/ D1. I just switched to vets so I could occasionally paddle D2 events, tbh the end of year rankings are for wry amusement only! :D

The first boat I competed in would be 47 years old, the paddle was two bits of ply in an aluminium tube, I has a Peter Storm Cag to keep the water off, and a nyon Deck. Boy was my kit GOOD!! 8)

The idea of div 2/3 vets to allow people to compare themselves regardless of division, that was Pete Hanovers aim. Hence points are earnt at your division.

Prem/1 ranking is aimed at 'who is the best' so you get more points at Prem than one, and anyone can earn points anywhere.
