ACM Motion 6.1 Promotion Levels

Post by Canadian Paddler » Tue Nov 06, 2018 1:09 pm

At the 2017 ACM, the promotion targets were amended. Part of that motion proposed a further increase for the 2019 season. This motion reflects that proposals
Targets agreed at 2017 ACM
2018 2019
Target 5 wins % 5 Wins Target % 5 Wins Target % 5 Wins
Division 1 to Prem 4,750 5,000 95 4,750 95 4,750 95
Division 2 to Division 1 2,250 2,500 90 2,300 92 2,350 94
Division 3 to Division 2 1,040 1,250 83.2 1,070 85.6 1,100 88
. Page 57
B4.3.2 Promotion in all other Divisions
Promotion will be gained by attaining the following points from the five best results:
Division 1 to Premier 4750
Division 2 to Division 1 23002350
Division 3 to Division 2 10701100
All spelling errors are intentional and are there to show new and improved ways of spelling old words. Grammatical errors are due to too many English classes/teachers.
Old. Fat. Slow. Bad tempered. And those are my good points

As background information: the effect of this year's small increase in promotion targets appears to have been very marginal.
  • Compared to 2017 there has been a small drop in the proportion of active Div 2 and Div 3 paddlers promoted. This could be simply the effect of some races being lost - there is a similar drop in the proportion of Div 1s promoted to Prem, where proportionately more races were lost but promotion targets were not changed.
  • There are 8 Div 2s and 3 Div 3s whose total scores fall between the old and new promotion targets and who are therefore “held back” by the new targets as at the end of 2018.

As one of the 8 div 2's that appears to have been 'held back', I personally feel that the shortage of big water courses for div 2 is what stopped me getting promotion rather than the increased points requirement. Of course being better in shallow and slow water would have negated that.

This was handled under article 5.9 and voted on immediately. The original motion was adopted nem con.
