Anyone catch this tonight? The ladies team are competing in Slalom on HPP. They showed the start of their training tonight on a very cold warm-up pool - they're complete beginners, so if they get down a proper slalom course next week after just a few weeks training then much respect is due!
All in all, looks like a good bit of publicity for the sport.

Not sure its great publicity for the sport. Saw it last night on e4 and the girls were all miserable, cold and slagging the sport off calling it "pointless" and "rubbish". But then that was to be expected when the are falling into freezing cold water and have no clue what they're doing as they've only been in a boat a few times on the flat before going onto the rough!
I can't believe they thought that anyone would be able to make it down a slalom course after 4 or so sessions, even in ducky rafts which are what they're using.
Also its not slalom, just a downriver raft sprint, not sure that its as good news for slalom as everyone reckons!
Still there will over a 1000 people down to watch it live and Greg Hitchen, Aynsley Buggy and Zach Pillinger are doing a slalom demo beforehard so hopefully the spectators will get an idea of what the sport is really like. Too bad the viewing public won't!
