Tryweryn Premier and division one slaloms, 29/30 Sept

Post by richardlee » Wed Sep 12, 2012 1:09 pm

Entries are coming in steadily for both races - the closing date for entries will be 21st September. Its a busy weekend, so I will not be able to take late entries, so if you want an entry, put them in the post or you can give them to me at HPP race. I will prepare an entries received list for this weekend, along with information.

Saturday - Premier race
Demos will be at 9.00 am, and the race will run through to 3.30 pm.
Officials event - there are 15 places left - please remember the division one event will be held at chapel falls on the Sunday (the course will be in place on the Saturday) and available for training - please sign in at the centre, if you are using this site as well as the Graveyard race site.
Cheques for entry fees for this event are payable to Canoe Wales slalom committee (If you are entering both Saturday and Sunday - please send a separate cheque to Bala CC for the Sunday event)

Sunday - Division one, Pan Celtic and Welsh championships
This event has been moved from Bala Mill (due to some erosion of the bank in key areas) and will run from below the rafting egress , through the NRA bridge, over chapel falls, and finishing above Tyn Cornel campsite.
Official practice will start at 8.15 am, with racing starting at 10.00 am. The course will be available for free practice on the Saturday (but no rescue will be in place during free practice time)
Cheques for entry fees for this event are payable to Bala Canoe Club (If you are entering the Premier / division one event - please send two separate cheques).

Pan Celtic - If you have been selected to paddle for Pan Celtic championships - please enter through your National team, or directly if instructed by your team manager. As it is being run alongside division one slalom, there will be a practice run if required, so that it ties in with division one rules (as with Grandtully earlier in the year). If you are in division one, your division one race will count (there are no separate race runs for this or the Welsh champs) for Pan Celtic racing. If you are not in division one - please send a completed card through if requested by your National team along with any fees payable.

Welsh championships - Paddlers not in division one will pay the division two entry fees (Seniors £13) and Juniors (£10)

Team event - it is intended to run a single run team race at the end of the day - however if the number of entries are high and the water release limited, we may have to restrict this part of the event (this will be confirmed after 21st September)

Please bear in mind that the event is being run on a dam released river. Releases have been good this year and there is plenty of water in the dam, so we expect a good release for the event. However - please ring the water info line - 01678 520826 - before travelling to the site

Thanks

Richard Lee

on behalf of Canoe Wales slalom committee and Bala CC.

Car parking will be available at the centre ovver the weekend - there will be charge for this.
Catering will be available at Canolfan Tryweryn.
Camping is available at the adjacent campsite at Tyn Cornel, as well as being available at Bala Mill.If you need more information, contact the Bala Tourist Information centre

Hi Nicky

Any cheques I have already received - I am keeping a list and will make a transfer between Bala CC / Canoe Wales.

So, unless there is anything else, you will not get an RTC for the single cheque issue.

A list of entries for the Premier, division one, Welsh championships received to date has been posted on the canoeslalom website (Thanks, Nick). This has also been sent to Pan Celtic team managers - to cross reference with teams, while expecting entries from Ireland and CANI as well.

Please send your entries in to reach me by Friday, 21st September. You can also e mail me on richard.lee@canoewales.com to reserve your place (please send the card and cheque, prior to the race weekend though.

Received a few officials entries for the Premier - only a few places left for this race.
Not many entries for the officials event on Sunday division one - so it is likely we will run the event with back to back runs - K1Men and C1Women in morning and K1Women C1M and C2s in afternoon. Judging duties will probably be taken up by Welsh paddlers (short stints!) and Pan celtic team representatives.

Start list and information will be posted over the weekend.

Thanks, Richard Lee

Hi Paul

Yes the campsite at Bala Mill is in the field behind the mill (postcode LL23 7NT), off the A4212, 400m after the junction with the A494, down a track opposite the artificial sports pitch.

There is also camping on site at Tryweryn at Tyn cornel, while the Bala Tourist Information centre has a list of other accommodation available in the area.

Information has now been posted along with the start list on www.canoeslalom.co.uk

Entries have now closed - we have room for judges on Saturday and Sunday.

Thanks - see you at the weekend
