First promotion for Seaton Park Slalom, this year incorporates Divisions 3 and 4 so all those who got promoted last year then failed to find the road South can have another crack at getting into slalom.

Slalom weekend is 13th & 14th May, double event race on saturday or sunday or both. Coaching assistance and general introductory lessons for those starting out available prior to race starts. Come along give it a try, get some advice if you improve test yourself against the clock and the pack!!

All entrants included in the handicap open, application of various fudge factors to put the experts under added pressure!

Many thanks to Nick and JC on the website and yearbook, however despite sending in the datasheet electronically to avoid spelling/typing errors the email is wrong:

:p

Just posting to chuck this back to the top again and remiond all that Seaton Park Slalom is coming soon.

You won't get a BCU Slalom Event further North and it is all held in the splendour of Aberdeens Seaton Park. bring a boat, bring a ball, bring a picnic. Let the kids play in the funpark swings, laze or have a kick around on the grass and enjoy some laconic slalom paddling.

Those previous entrants will notice some fairly significant changes, the car park has been reduced, there is now a tramac path past the site, we have wheelchair access ramp to the course and a new landing stage that isn't recycled driftwood in the middle of the course. the main treefall of the winter has now been removed, albeit the one at the bottom of the course is more for intimidation than an obstruction. It may even become a feature for the course designer to work with.

Parents and shuttle bunnies can always dump there beloved at the site and have an enjoyable walk through one of the most historic areas of Aberdeen. Ranging from the historic Brig O'Balgownie and ancient hamlet of Cotton of Balgownie, to the Chanonry with the oldest inhabited house in Aberdeen, St Machares Cathedral and the Wallace Tower.

Slight change in scenery to the West of the site as the old Paper Mill is in the process of becoming "affordable homes", the big chimney has gone so the coaches will have to find a new landmark for the warm up instructions.

Come along you know it makes sense ...

Seaton Park Slalom is open to all paddlers, whether they are entirely new to slalom or already in the BCU ranking system. Experienced paddlers have a handicap applied to their result. For less experienced paddlers the event is approved as a BCU division 3/4 double ranking competition and results for all paddlers who qualify for divisional status will be reported separately and used to determine those eligible for promotion points.

Less than a week to go. . . . And looks like it will be a fun event. why not go and see if you can put a face to seedy Paddler?
All spelling errors are intentional and are there to show new and improved ways of spelling old words. Grammatical errors are due to too many English classes/teachers.
Old. Fat. Slow. Bad tempered. And those are my good points

:p

And I thought "The Independent" did a very good job of that after last years Tully Pan Celtic !!

Entries starting to roll in already Selkirk to Aviemore with some from Perth and Fife in between. Weather looks promising as we bask in bright sunshine and the snow disappears from the surrounding mountain tops.

Note that all entries (ranking and officials) will be included in the "Special Handicap Open", unfortunately we only seem to cater for division, sex, class and for Juniors. Being a BOF I think that is ageist.

Club turnouts will put you in contention to prize the Shield away from the home Club - has been done in the past we only ask that you bring it back next year.

A Final Punt ot the top of the list before the weekend, this evening spent up to my jewells in the Don rebuilding the eddie lost when the local Council replaced the main landing stage. Tomorrow we get the competition gates out onto the water ready for the punters on Saturday morning.

Various Club parents are offering home cooking to assist with energy and sugar bursts between runs. Unfortunately having basked in Tropical sunshine for the past four days the forecast is not so good for the weekend with showers - some have even advised that the local rag is suggesting snow!

Ah well another few weeks and we will be heading for Autumn!
