I offered to help Jim (wishing you a speedy recovery, Jim!) by researching holiday dates over Easter 2007, to help choose the 'Grandtully week'.
So far, every school looked at has the week from Sat 7th April to Sun 15th April off. Most go back to school on 16th April. Easter Sunday is 8th April.
Still looking, but it would help if you let us know if your holidays do not include this week.
Thanks.

Aberdeen City School Holidays are posted as:
Schools break up at close of 30th March
Resume start (pupils) 18th April 2007
Remember as well as the week for Grandtully there is the minor inconvenience of getting to North Wales from the distant North, if a selection event is to be held there as well around this time.

Yes, the Scottish schools have a brilliant web site giving all the Scottish holidays - wish the rest of the uk did too!
Not getting into the politics of whether 'Grandtully week' should be when all uk can be there or not - just trying to find out if there is a universal free week. Its looking like there maybe one over Easter 2007, unlike 2006.

Our son was looking just this week at when the holidays were. He appears to be back to school April 17th.

The link above is a search engine, you just put in the name of the local authority and it directs you to the holiday page, it is quite good, tried testing a few.
