Anyone know if the cardiff slalom course is on target for next March ?
Will it be pumped water ?
Estimated cost to paddle ?
A future prem-div2 slalom venue ? Potential organisers ?

Hi Steve,

The Cardiff slalom course is currently on hold whilst additional finances are found - hopefully only a temporary set back. The original cost was estimated at about £4M but this has since grown to £6M and then on to £8M earlier this year when the development was put out to competetive tender.

It will be a pumped course as it will be built alongside the other sporting venues in the old Cardiff docks. No costs have been provided as yet but you can bet it won't be cheap and slalom will have to compete alonside rafting which is likely to be far more lucrative to the company that will be tasked with making the venue profitable.

In terms of a potential organiser for a future slalom event, I think you are looking at the BCU Slalom Committee/WCA Slalom Committee using Cardiff as an alternative venue for the British Open just in case the water levels are low, as they might be this year if we don't get some real rain soon - long range forecast isn't looking good :( :( :(

Thankyou Sherpa,
Please add any updates. I was hoping to paddle there once a fortnight. If anyone feels burdened by too much money perhaps they could spare a few £million for a worthy cause.
:)
