you could maybe book one of the wooden lodges on the course itself.

I think there is a premier Inn just above the site too.

and a camp site

I've used the metro inn at Stockton a few times (formerly formule1). Not the most salubrious (i.e clean) but cheaper than normal hotel.

Think the biggest problem you may have is that I am led to believe that on the same weekend is the Great North Run and as such a lot of the accommodation is being taken up by runners & supporters, even though this event takes place further up the coast. I know several entrants for the Tees race who have struggled to get accomodation for the weekend in local hotels - one being told the closest Premier Inn with space being York!!.

The Metro Inn is full - Great North Run - but if you go onto an internet Hotel site there are still B&B's available (I found one)

It's not that difficult if you look round, I just booked a family room for two nights in a Pub 15 miles from the course for a real bargain price, in fact cheaper than two rooms at Metro Inn would have cost.

And by the way if you are only up for the Prem race Metro Inn still have space on the Friday night.
To err is human, if you really want to screw up, use a computer!!

We've booked a pitch on the camp site - we may well float away if the weather doesn;t change but hey we have paddles :O
