Adjustable Paddle Spigot Thingy

Post by Nick Taylor » Mon Jul 16, 2018 1:37 pm

Does anyone know where I can buy an adjustable paddle spigot thingy
(hard to search the web when you're not sure what something is called.....)

I mean one of these in the picture:

I'm also interested to hear if anyone has fitted one of these

Thanks Jim, I did find the Hydrasports one with some help from them

Next problem is that the Raab blades in question are in a smaller diameter shaft...

That's more tricky!

I did once sand down a Lendal paddlok button to fit to a canoe paddle with a smallershaft ID, but that doesn't help you because they only work on a fixed position, you can't change length or angle with that kind of joint.

Celtic Paddles (who now make the former Lendal range) do make some kids paddles on a smaller shaft, and I think have a varilok connector for it - if you know your shaft diameters it might be worth giving them a call (bad at answering email) and see if they have anything that might fit.

I'm also thinking that although I recycled an old glass shaft for my Braca IV downriver paddle it is smaller diameter than all my other shafts, and they must do a split connector because most of the guys use 2 piece paddles - maybe contact Ivan Lawler at Ultimate kayaks and see if he has anything to fit?
