Re: Abandoning the season?....

Great News.

A very sensible decision has now been made in my opinion.

See you all for the continuation of the current Racing Season during 2021.

Re: Abandoning the season?....

Perhaps if we allowed all Division 2 and 3 paddlers to roll over the ranking points they have secured in the 2020 season to the start of the 2021 season then a few more may be motivated to 'give it another year' at least. Well it won't put anyone off doing so anyway. Everyone was able to race before...

Re: Non quorat classes and paddle ups

What we introduced for the C2 classe a couple of seasons ago seems to work fine. All entrants are compared to the corresponding K1 Men's time after a time adjustment % allowance has been applied. If you are fast enough (comparatively) you get high ranking points but if you are not then you don't. Th...

Re: Vets Bibs

Hi Nick.

A very kind offer but with several races on the calendar before the HPP race you refer to I suspect that many of us will need our Bibs before that date.

Cheers for thinking of everyone though.

Re: 6.1 Veterans Trophies

And round and round we go back to the discussion held at last years ACM.

It is my understanding, backed up by other more senior people in the room on that day, that the Alan Harwood trophy was awarded to the highest ranked Div. 2/3 Vet. in K1 Men. So no, not in any class.

20 Year Celebration

Nick. Thanks for running your Canoe Slalom website for the past 20 years as it continues to be the go to place for information about the sport here in the U.K. I have never known Canoe Slalom without it as we have only been involved as a family in the sport for the past 12 years. Have you got any of...

Re: Vets - New Points System Please

Hi Nick. I think you may have misunderstood the point that I was making. If several Vet.'s at Division 2 & / or Division 3 races get full points currently then it is because they were faster than the 2nd fastest Paddler in the corresponding host division class. This is because we currently use a dir...

Re: Vets - New Points System Please

Thanks for doing the background analysis Nick but your chart and the figures it contains shows exactly why we should not apply the same correction / adjustment factor to all Vet. classes equally. While it may work for K1 it actually makes things worse for C1. I am sure that Paul will not mind me say...

Re: Vets - New Points System Please

Hi Bob. I fully understand your pain and what you have suggested would appear to be both simple to administer and understandable. It is not only an issue for K1 Men but I think also for K1 Women so perhaps you should consider making your proposal cover both classes. Such a system is not needed howev...

Re: C1 Disaster Imminent?

How many paddlers (and their parents) realise that you currently only have to pay 50% of the standard race entry fee to do C2 runs at the moment. That reduced entrance fee can then be split again between the two paddlers taking part making it £1.65 per Paddler at a Division 3 event. Perhaps we could...

Re: Grandtully Div.2 Rules Clarification Request

Thanks for all of your replies which in the main were made in the spirit the original post was intended - discussion stimulating, thought provoking and knowledge seeking. I was personally disappointed with my 1st run performance where I failed to read the water correctly which resulted in several 50...

Grandtully Div.2 Rules Clarification Request

I initially wish to thank all of the volunteers who worked hard before, during and now after the Grandtully Double Div.2 event that took place this weekend. They dealt with many challenging situations resulting in us having a race to paddle at on both days. My first request for rules clarification s...

Re: C1 Disaster Imminent?

I've thought that for a long time the way Ranking Points are awarded to the various Classes could be better. If K1M was selected as being the control class (just because it is usually the largest and most capable class at any race) then all other classes could be compared against it for their rankin...

Re: Vets' Points

Just to add to the debate...... The same paddler (Joel) paddled both C1 Vet and K1 Vet, on the same day on the same course at yesterday's Washburn Div. 1 race. Now that the results have been posted I see that he was able to secure the full 1,000 points available in his C1 but only 340 points out of ...
