Re: Is it time for some outside the box thinking?
I think there needs to be acceptance that for quite a few paddlers the cost of travelling long distances to events (fuel etc) together with the overall rise in cost of living will make event attendance lower than in previous years. Doubling up on events feels like a good way to reduce the impact.

Re: Championship Format in Prem
OK so yet another person has dropped out of chatter because of arguably ill judged penmanship. I feel there is a pattern - chatter is dominated by a few contributors - many thanks for the inputs - but actually the views of others involved in the sport who are not so prolific is needed and is valuabl...

Re: Prem is dead Long live Div 1P
As said before :( No one is listening The perception is if you're a paddler and have a view that is contrary to or questions what the official system wants then you are a nuisance who doesn't appreciate the effort put in by volunteers - I've heard it said time and time again by officials. So the net...

Re: Prem is dead Long live Div 1P
Have to say - while I wouldn't couch the text in quite the same way as paddlingfish it is a pretty accurate description of the feeling amongst certainly the older paddler regarding paddle ups But again the paddlers feel they are rarely listened to so feel there is no point in saying anything, they j...

Re: Time to limit or split Premier Division ?
There IS an issue with paddle up, and it has to do with when host-division priority ends. A couple of years ago this was moved from two weeks before the race to four weeks before, and I think it was a mistake. The change was made looking at things from the point of view of the paddle-ups. I'm a sup...

Re: Lee Valley Div2/Open
Thanks for the clearer info. So making this a more positive change, if I understand the situation correctly. There is capacity at LV to hold more races, as BC have negotiated a number of days into their contract for this to happen with the Council who now own LV . What is needed is for the people wh...

Re: Lee Valley Div2/Open
Surely the issue is not who owns what venue but who can bring the most influence to bear. In these instances one would have thought British Canoeing who can hopefully represent their members

Re: Restructuring the divisions
Does anone know the history as to why the fastest K1m time is used as the base point for percentages and how the percentages were arrived at? Does anyone know what the original rationale was behind different promotion points across the divisions and the what the original thinking was behind how the ...

Re: Organiser Nightmares
In my experience in other areas - people do not read things thoroughly any more :D We live in a society of short sound bites which a lot of the time removes the need to actually read and process what we read. This in turn leads to, not laziness, but a lack of practice of reading and assimilation of ...

CP
that would work too!
Steve
I expect if paddlers had more confidence they would get an entry then the application early issue would calm down.

Re: Opening dates for entries -Personal Discussion thread
With a tin hat firmly screwed onto my head :-) Are we not in danger in overly complicating the situation again? I think what is really needed is more div 1 races - i know, i know who is going to run them etc etc etc but with more races paddlers can then be restricted to entering a max number in any ...

Re: GRANDTULLY DIV 1 AUGUST 27-28 2016
Your post has not upset me in the slightest, but I thought there had been a new rule made with regard to the banking of event entry fees, however I cant see one - maybe it was just discussed. You talk about the banking of cheques in your first post as being, "like any normal business" but I submit t...

I was under the impression that under the new rules an organiser cannot bank cheques received until a week before the event

Re: 6.3 Remove Paddle Up
It is a fact that many races have been short of judges because those who have normally participated in judges runs to get higher division competition experience, have instead - for the large part - paddled up. I dont agree with the comment re pressure, this isn't a fact but purely perception While o...
