I suppose that I better declare that I not a newbie... in fact I think I started just after they switched from the old red and green poles on the same gate... anyway onwards. I agree with some of what mwilk is saying... but I see them as a leap of faith... somewhere possible we should be heading. W...

I am keen to see the wording for the negotiation of gates. I can see certain scenarios where current rules could be by-passed to gain an advantage on a single pole gate. E.g. single pole upstream and then cutting back through the non existent gateline to exit the eddy from where you arrived rather ...

I'm probably stating something here that may be in the full proposed changes... but: HOW DO WE KNOW WHICH WAY TO NAVIGATE A SINGLE POLE GATE? Sounds a little stupid I know... but are we all assuming that a single pole gate will the just be a double pole gate with one pole missing and the top bar st...

It's very difficult to be fair and transparent other than by drawing a line and demoting those below it, but as Slow n Dirty says there are reasons why exceptions can be made, and they have been - one injury, one military service this year. Time for another outspoken view.... Sorry but those arguem...

before you can gather in a crop you need to plough the soil and sew the seed John... I aint got a clue which corner you are standing in here! You seem to continually talk about competitions and people pushing as hard as they can to achieve the best they can. Yet the letter that you have attached ta...

John, your ideas on the divisonal system would require a great deal of thought and effort to implement. Maybe if you came up with a staged solution that would fit into the current system then we could look to the future. However without moving from the thread.... I don't think that an end of season...

I see I'm the only one championing a single year halt on fee increases and it looks like I'm fighting a losing battle here. I'm not after a full halt to the increase, just a sensible approach to increases... i.e. when a cost increases pass it on. How about the idea that the increases do carry on be...

You are still not convincing me here! Canadian PAddler you say that your camping costs increase each year and you make a loss on them. Surely you would be better pointing everyone to an alternative location to reduce the loss burden? (I'm not sure of your site so this may be impractial - apologies ...

I'm sure that with the exception of torrential rain, you paddling to an event or divine intervention your boat would be dry on a Saturday morning when boat weighing takes place. After the run I would say it is acceptable to have a small amount of water in it for weighing, but anything that could be...

I'm actually for this one. Back in the day when we had no inseason promotion Div 1 was a lot closer and far more competitive. Sure you give Craig as an example, and I got promoted from Div 1 around June time as well. The first thing that happens when you get promoted early (because you are above st...

Show me a course designer that understands what these numbers mean and I'll bother voting on this one!

Give them 20cms and the word "approximately" and they'll give us 45cm and "it's close to 20cms"

Do entry fees actually need to increase year on year in line with CPI or Inflation, or can we put them on hold for a year? Can someone tell me the direct costs that increase to bring about the fee increase? I understand that insurance increases... but we are all BCU members and covered through the ...

I see where this idea is going, but you could be a Div 1 paddler who get promoted in early May... then does the one Prem in May/June, but ends up getting demoted because they don't have the SS status. I'm using Prem as an example as they always have that big summer domestic break. In the example a ...

Why? I may be missing the point here but surely you weigh the boat before the event when dry to get a reference weight. If the boat finishes the runs and weighs less when wet they someones not playing fair. Maybe rewording the rule to state the above, but you need to weigh the boat when dry at some...
