Re: 6.2 Entry Fees

Thanks Peter, What about levies, are the percentages staying the same or is the amount staying the same (+inflation)?

Re: 6.2 Entry Fees

I wasn't at the ACM but have already received chasers to finalise my calendar entry, so can someone tell me which way this went so I can decide whether we need to charge an enhanced entry fee?

Re: 6.2 Entry Fees

Not exactly in line with the proposal/thread, but we seem to have a problem attracting numbers to the Canadian classes, currently we have C2's paying half the normal entry fee, but I reckon if we had more C1's we would naturally get more C2s, so why not base the entry fee on the number of paddle bla...

Re: 6.2 Entry Fees

So does fewer events mean each event gets more entries? I don't think so. At lower divisions particularly 3/4 paddlers want "local" competitions. At Div 2 they will travel further but even then other things come into play. But - others disagree with me. It's hard to prove either way. Most div 3 and...

Re: 6.7 Organiser Discretion on Accepting Paddle Ups

It's up to paddlers with their coaches and or parents to decide if they are capable of paddling a particular course/water - in their own division or as a paddle up or official. This is pretty much what my risk assessments say. The venue and course will be suitable for the host division so all ranke...

Re: 6.5 Junior Equipment

I'd say the weight was one of the important dimensions for kids. There are a lot of kids (J12 and above) paddling boats that meet the length and breadth dimensions but were built to the old 8kg rule...

Re: 6.5 Junior Equipment

Jim, I can remember Racing at Tully Div1 Pan Celtic and you had a Scottish Master in the Team event in a Plastic Pig. Nobody complains as it was all good fun. But if they had come first it could be a different story. My Vote would be let anyone paddle anything, except at selection races. Quite off ...

Re: 6.7 Organiser Discretion on Accepting Paddle Ups

I can't even begin to imagine why host division paddlers would leave it that late Some paddlers who work can't know far in advance which weekends they will be free, and risking an entry fee on a race you might not be able to get to is expensive. This is a good point, it is easy to forget that peopl...

Re: 6.7 Organiser Discretion on Accepting Paddle Ups

If there must be paddle ups then only the top 5 or maybe 10 should have the right to have a race, to get them ready for Prem...I suppose...if pushed. That’s exactly how it is right now. I’m sure if the paddlers have the right percentile to paddle to already enable them to paddle up they should be s...

Re: 6.5 Junior Equipment

The rules for the race are based on the host division so I think she would need a larger boat, or you could gamble on it not being checked if the race isn't an International (i.e. British Open) or GB selection race. Any organiser could take it upon themselves to apply the rules though, historic lack...

Re: 6.5 Junior Equipment

My only issue with this is that age is not a good indicator of size and strength, to be really fair it should be based on paddler weight rather than age, but that would be even more problematic to administer. I'm sure there are petite 13 and 14 year olds using undersized and/or light boats in divisi...

Re: 6.7 Organiser Discretion on Accepting Paddle Ups

I am pretty disorganized so I have often tried to find accommodation within 4 weeks of a race, and depending on where the race is, it often is not easy to do. Moving the priority deadline closer to the race makes it more difficult for organized paddle ups to make arrangements. I can't even begin to ...

Re: 6.2 Entry Fees

My scenarios suggest that even with a slight loss in entries the proposed fees should make our div 2/3 sure to at least break even, I think we could even manage with a loss of one of our other income streams if entries stay about the same. They also suggest we can get to a similar situation with enh...
