Cardington June 2022 - Mike Carter Memorial Slalom

Just over two weeks to go until the first Cardington Div 2/3/4 slalom of the year. Viking Kayak Club are looking forward to welcoming everyone whether you've been many times before or this is your first event. As this is the Mike Carter Memorial Slalom it would be nice to see a few more Vets on the ...

Re: Too few indispensible volunteers

All good thoughts Duncan and Jim. The developments you've had a go at Duncan sound really interesting. We ran our 2/3/4 last year card less with results including penalties only displayed on the Internet, we are fortunate to have good 4G coverage so people just viewed them on their phones, seem to w...

Re: Too few indispensible volunteers

Finding volunteers to help run events is certainly getting harder, this is just as big a problem at the lower division events as it is at those that require timing teams and section judges. Everything that has been said about the need to bring on new volunteers is very true but we also need to look ...

Re: BC Membership For Div 4 Races

Duncan, your wish has come true, all club associate members are now covered for entry level events, not just juniors, see https://www.britishcanoeing.org.uk/guid ... /insurance. My original post was about how event organisers validate someone's club associate membership status.

BC Membership For Div 4 Races

Does anyone know how things now work with regards to BC membership for Div 4 races? It used to be that adults had to be a BC member or pay for a day membership and juniors also had the option of being a member of a club that had a BC registered youth section. The BC website now says " Entry-level co...

Cardington September 2021

If you've tried to enter the September Cardington Div 2/3/4 yesterday morning and found it showed the races were cancelled, this was an error. Viking Kayak Club are very much planning to run the September event. The issue is now fixed and you should be able to enter.

Events at Cardington 2021

Unfortunately the June Div 2/3/4 event at Cardington has had to be cancelled. The restriction of events to Div 3 and 4 with local paddlers only means that there would only have a handful of entries which I'm afraid would not make the event viable. Please rest assured the we are fully committed to ru...

British Canoeing - Club Consultation Survey (Not the same as Stronger Together 2021-2025 survey)

If you have not seen the British Canoeing Club Consultation Survey (link below) have a look at it and make sure your club responds, it looks like it could have a significant impact on entry level slalom (and other disciplines). The proposed changes and my view of possible impacts are: 1. Exclusion o...

Re: 6.2 Entry Fees

I'm very concerned about the impact of this motion on lower division events. I very much agree that events need to be viable. Different clubs will have different views as to what is viable, some will be happy to breakeven others will need to make a surplus to make it worth their while but I'm sure t...

Whether or not the links work seems to depend on the device you are using to try and access them from. They work fine on my Windows PC but not from my iPhone.

Re: Results required for promotion display

Duncan

Just wondered if you'd made any progress on the organisers list you mention above, if there is anything now available I'd be interested in having it for our event at Cardington this weekend.

Re: Cardington June Slalom

The event is now pretty much full so it is extremely unlikely that it will be possible to enter on the day, please DO NOT travel unless you have first confirmed your place. If you are planning to enter the officials race, it would be a great help if you could do so online rather than waiting until y...
