Personally I support Shepperton having those events, but thinking about amicable solutions for a second. Is there anything to stop a club running a slalom similar to the winter slaloms seen at Peterborough and Stone, but in the middle of the managed calendar? I guess they are open events with no di...

Yes Duncan - unranked and open! Given that some paddlers cannot commit to many events, and a division system exists then the equation is that there will be a skew one way or the other. Increase the size of the upper divisions by keeping them up, or slow down genuine promotions by putting them down ...

I would agree with the motion in principal. I think the figure of 300/30 could need some work, possibly different for each division. Maybe the appropriate portion (4 or 5 events) of the points of last non-SS paddler to stay up? I have only done one race this year and will do no more. This is not du...

I'm a bit late on this one. Scheme seems fine, but am I missing something? Rule 3.5 (UK) states DV is "Over 34 on 1st Jan". Does this mean if you are 34 and x days or if you are 35 or older? I always assumed the latter, which would mean I'm Senior for the year but also M35 in the league? Or have I ...

Hmmm - this is bordering on the very impolite. I think your comment regarding "... they know they can get good points if they dont make a mistake" is ridiculous. Is white water slalom not also about the technical discipline of the sport and not just brute strength and speed? Getting through a trick...

One last post, then I'll leave it alone. Sorry if this seems argumental, I would call it analytical which is my job/nature. One freak result can get you promoted, if you have 2 or 3 hard earned results. OK so you're not far off the level to achieve it but technically this is a promotion that should...

Still nobody has answered why this is ok for C2's and not for K1W. I also see nobody complaining about 6.9 for C1M or 6.6 for C1W or 6.4 for P/1 vets, all proposing to factor from K1M. I think the original proposal was for this to only apply for K1W in Div 2 and 3, and I think this is how it will b...

My point about the glory days is that Div 1 can no longer be a mini-Prem as it was, there are too many paddlers of a standard that couldn't and wouldn't suport that. 10+ years ago this wasn't an issue because it was significantly tighter at the top end of Div 1 (as it sounds like you know) and even...

I don't pretend to have done any research, I'm merely stating what I believe to be the case behind the proposal. However if there is at least one race in Div 3 K1W with only 3 competitors then this rule would help. If the ratio is set right, then it won't stop many promotions, if any. I think it wo...

I think the proposal is because there are some events a year where there aren't the numbers of attendees in K1W to give a sensible set of points. I think as long as there are 3 ladies currently the points are allocated in the normal way, so if 3 good ladies turn up you could get rubbish points, if ...

Well said John. As I've said a few times before you can't hark back to the glory days by putting the old rules back. By returning to end of season promotion for Div 1, you won't get what you used to get 10+ years ago, there aren't the same number of paddlers. Maybe if we went back to 5 second penal...
