Re: 6.6 Carry Points Forward for 2022

My club is planning on voting against this motion for the following reasons: - There have been sufficient races within each division to allow for promotion, as proven by the number of promotions that have taken place. - Over the past two years, the sport has suffered with a lack of new paddlers at t...

C2 paddling under current Covid-19 restrictions

What is the latest guidance on crew boat paddling ie. C2s? I’ve seen nothing published in 2021. Returning to competition after May 17th if the guidance for crew boats is No (apart from say family/bubble crews) then is it sensible to remove the C2 class from the schedule for these early races altoget...

Re: Promotion and 50's

Paddlers who don't want to get promoted have options like entering as an official instead of ranking event... No, you can't do that with young club paddlers just starting out. And It simply doesn't make sense to deliberately add 50s penalties to a ranking run to try to get a bad result. I've never ...

Re: Promotion and 50's

I can’t believe you’re fretting over this, particularly if you add the likes of dodgy gate calls into the mix at this level. It may just come down to a paddler not having the benefit (?) of someone screaming at them from the bank to go back and do the gate again. It all comes out in the wash. We’re ...

Re: proposed minimum points

Surely if a Veteran is fretting about points they should be in the divisions. Let's not make it more complicated than it is now.

Re: Entry Stats

Wow impressed. One small point, do Officials normally wear their ranking bib or are they given a scratch bib as with div 4? And from my lowly position C2 is still Red/Black, although I've "raced" against Pale Blue. But to deal with that in canoeslalomentries would just be adding unnecessary complica...

Only complication would be where div 4 uses a different piece of water (Llandysul 1/4)
No complication, at Llandysul Andy and I considered entering the div 2 and the Open on the lake. Not for long though.

Re: Entry Stats

I had the brilliant idea (no really, other people have told me they liked it!) of printing a coloured border at the top of each card to roughly match the bib colour for the class to make it easier for clerks to find and display cards and for competitors to find the results when posted. How about co...

Re: Div 4 C2 - Confused of Winchester

I agree with Steve, I don’t think it makes any difference. At the two div 4 races I’ve been to this year supporting club members there’s been just an Open C2 and in both cases they were all non-ranked crews. At Langham Farm div 3 in a couple of weeks I intend to award what would have been the div 4 ...

Thanks for the replies. Jeff I think 17cm is going to be a bit small. Zak and Hydrasports thanks for the links, I'll have a closer look.

Stick On Numbers

Does anyone know where I can get 20cm black stick on numbers for gate number boards? I'm making a new set. I've tried eBay etc but can't seem to find them big enough. For our training gates I replace them piecemeal when necessary using a home made stencil and a paint brush but I can't face the conce...

Re: Online Entries - The Future - Have your Say?

First off - I have, against my better judgement - started to try and extend the entry system to div 4s… One of my issues is thinking forwards to MCD… Just ignore MCD. At least don’t deal with it online. I thought the purpose of MCDs was to encourage paddlers to enter more than one class. So, job do...

Re: Online Entries - The Future - Have your Say?

juniors only have automatic affiliated membership if they are in a club that has a registered official youth section. Yes understand. My loose use of terms. I was suggesting that they could enter online if they claimed to be a member of a registered official youth section. And this element dealt wi...

Re: Online Entries - The Future - Have your Say?

I was going to respond some time ago but forgot. Patrick’s contribution has prompted me. Your questions about BC membership. I concur with Patrick with the addition of: • Most div 4s have never heard of BC which is a point I put to David Joy at a roadshow earlier this year in the context of clubs be...

Re: C2 Structure for 2018 Season

I'd also propose that we merge 1,2 and 3...it's quite a jump from div 2 to div 1 water, Paul With respect Paul you're a special case. You're effectively paddling C2 as a C1. Easier on the flatter tighter (div 2) courses, harder on the heavier (div 1) courses, hence the jump from 2 to 1. I wouldn't ...
