It seems a shame that proposed changes that would seem to benefit everyone are jeapodised by mistrust and a lack of co-ordination between th different groups using the facility. As far as I can see the major concerns are that of depth, which is strange considering that the site will still be deeper...

Well actually any court higher than the magistrates' can set a precendent, though the decision will only be binding on courts below it in the English legal system. As for this going to the Lords etc. that's very unlikely, as the Law lords only rule on issues concerning key points of law and hear ve...

Not a rant or a rave, but I was just wondering if anyone knew if next weekend is also the UK champs as well as senior and u23/j18 selection, and if not when they are?

Hmm, I think it will make the sport even more dynamic and exciting... As for 1 sec penelties not encouraging clean runs, I'd argue that with fewer poles to hit clean runs would become even more important. One of the biggest changes I suspect would be more people risking 50s to take direct lines whi...

Realistically speaking the chances of any such legal action succeeding against a governing body in sport are far from guarenteed and will be very expensive for those concerned. As for the rules, they do seem somewhat strange as surely are reserve boat if they have qualified the spot should go regar...

You can turn up and enter at a div 4 race tho, and the liklihood of you being able to just turn up and be competitive at higher devision level is unrealsitic unless you are fairly experienced at slalom. I do agree that a few open races run alongside the divsional system would be good tho, maybe wee...

I agree with a few of the other poster who have pointed out that dealing with disappointment is a big part of sports development. A certain very young Mr. Ratcliffe was once an angry and tearful child in the back of the car until his dad told him that if he was going to carry on like that, he would...

Tully is a hard race for pole heights due to the fact that the lines are really long and that if it rains then the poles tend to get lower as the lines get wet. Also its hard to judge pole heights from the bank due to the width of the river. I agree that high poles are annoying and make racing and ...

I'm pretty sure that most people don't care. How the #### is a helmet going to effect your time, come on, be srious people. Fair enough the organisers should enforce the rules/ committee scrap the rules, but paddlers complaining because someone beat them wearing a camp star helmet? Come on!

I'd recommend you try the Quantum Plus and the Caiman Torrero. The Caiman is a solid boat which is stable and quick at accelerating, while the Nomad is very quick turning. It depends what you're after, but for me these two stand out, though there are plenty of other boats out there.

Hi, summer canoeing road trips are great for bringing on confidence and always good fun. So, I'll give you a summary of a few sites that you might want to consider.. Augsburg: 1972 Olympic course, regular World Cup venue. Challenging White Water Course (the Eiskanal) with some good stoppers, nice e...

Firstly I'd like to thank all the people who turn out in the cold, wind and rain, giving up their spare time to keep our sport going. It is sometimes a thankless job, which is only partly subsidised by the section judging expenses. Secondly I would like to echo Gaz and ask that whoever made that de...

If you have a midas and don't want to have flat ends then perhaps shorten to 365 or longer instead of 350, then you can taper the ends. Shortening the boat will make it turn quicker, and in useful in places like Nottingham as you will be less likely to hit the bank with your tail when exiting ups t...

I think there are two different issues here: unsporting behaviour and whether the laat raqce of the season should include automatic promotion. On the matter of promotion, I think leaving it all open right down to the last race, makes it exciting and gives paddlers who haven't been able to attend ma...
