Matlock Slalom Postponed

Matlock Slalom Postponed The recent floods completely destroyed all the lines, gates and flood lights at Matlock. We have to date been able to clear the majority of the debris left as a result of the floods and the cable along the roadside of the course. We have also been successful in applying for ...

Re: Vets' Points

Do we need prizes anyway? They are appreciated, especially when they are useful waterbottles but we aren't going to be upset if we don't, especially when we aren't quorate. I would be just as happy with a round of applause at prize giving, especially on the day when I actually beat all the div 3's a...

Re: Vets' Points

I wasn't going to respond to this discussion after all my ideas were shunned last year but I can't resist! I do like Steve Holmes' ideas the best but failing that, how about at a div 2 you get your points plus 250, at a div 1 you get your points plus 500 and at a prem you get your points plus 1000. ...

Re: Calculating points for inquorate, VET and PU

Please ensure your motion is clear about rounding, in the example the result is 237.5 which has been rounded to 238, what happens to 237.4 does it become 237 or 238? 237 or 238 I don't mind, so long as it's not 250 - even if I missed a win by one tenth of a second on Sunday! Hmmm! Timing! But that's...

Re: Calculating points for inquorate, VET and PU

Thanks Andy, just what I was going to explain. I keep coming 2nd and have achieved 6 x 250 points and I have only earned two of them.

(Ive sent you a PM, Andy - I think!)

Calculating points for inquorate, VET and PU

Does anyone want to second these three motions Proposal for consideration at the ACM Proposed by: Donna Hawkins of Matlock Canoe Club Seconded by: B4.1.4 Paddle Up Points Calculation Where a score does not correspond exactly with a score in the host division event, points should be awarded equivalen...

Re: Demotions

I agree Duncan. I don't think there is anything in the Year book about demotions though, is there?

Demotions

Another bug bear of mine is when paddlers get demoted when they have only done 2 or 3 races. If a div 2 paddler, for example, has done a race and scored in excess of 250 points, they should not be demoted. Anyone that has not done a minimum of 5 races should be considered as a special case and not a...

VET points Plan B

So here is Plan B which does not involve a complete overhall of the points system... How about VETs points go something like this... Premier points achieved plus 900 points Division 1 points achieved plus 450 points Division 2 points achieved plus 200 points Division 3 points achieved plus 0 points ...

Re: Points at mixed division events

Yes, I agree too - I hadn't thought that one through properly. It'd work if the divisions were equal but not like it is. Scrap that one then!

Re: Timing

No, Matlock use the tutti. I don't know if it's a common problem. I'm sure the div 2 K1M will know though. I still think it would be fairer to use second runs than lose several places because of a fraction of a second. two consistent runs would indicate a better paddler in my mind Perhaps it could b...

Re: Timing

Dee, This closeness in timing is extremely common at Matlock amongst the div 2 k1M. Have a look - it happens for almost every second at the top end.

Timing

Timing At Division 2 to 4 events that are not using an electronic timing beam, then timing should be calculated to the nearest second (not 0.1 second). The reason being that a change of start or finish judges or shift in their position could easily effect timing by more than 0.5 seconds. This would ...

Modified Scores

Modified scores At the moment, when scores are compared to another division (in VETs, Paddle-up and inquorate events) if the score does not correspond exactly with a competitor in the corresponding division, the points awarded to the next highest placed competitor will be used. I propose that the po...
