I fully agree with the rule that if there aren't enough paddlers that the competitors may be called upon to judge. However it seems to be the trend that Late entries are called upon rather than randomly selecting from all competitiors. Late entries already face the punishment of costing extra to en...

Looking at the provisional calendar, it says there are 10 prem races. A quick count adds up to 10. However reading the footnote Cardiff is a single over 2 days - which makes the number of races down to 9.

Am i missing something?

Agree with no 3. I would like to see the divisions split. Numbers in the division don't matter as it compared to the mens times anyway. It deters us from racing at 3/4s when we know those way too good for the event are paddling, but not taking it seriously enough to attend the 2/3s to get promoted....

The difference in the training / assessment notes are because the BCU want to give a wider experience of paddlesports covering a large range of skills, but to pass the star awards only the specified skills need to be performed. I'm a teacher & lecturer - do I just teach to the exam so they can pass...

I would say the bank based coaches do have to be assessed on technique! If if they are not doing it them selves, they will have to teach it, I would have thought that knowing how to do the techniques you're teaching is nessesary! Bank based coaches are assessed on their ability to coach the correct...

Thankfully I've not popped a shoulder yet, but after getting permanent pain from impingement in both shoulders I saw a sports physio. My posture was poor - rounded shoulders due to over developed biceps, pecs & anterior deltoids pulling my shoulders out of place, purely from paddling. I was warned ...

Using the 1.2 or 1.25 divider would inspire women more, it's not much fun getting very low points, higher points with a higher threshold would be good. Personally i prefer the 1.25, just because it puts me much higher up the table  but 1.2 gives results that are much more palatable after a r...

We've added a non BCU members fee onto our membership form for adults, as we as a club have to pay this to the BCU for each non member, two pounds I think. It was seen as unfair on our members who are paying the full amount to the bcu & club membership to subsidise others, so it's now been added. R...

Mallory was paddling Div 2/3 C1w so her results aren't with the others, but would have put her 2nd on both Sat & Sun if in Prem/1.

How about people just try their best to do the course. It is on their conscious if they missed the gates and then won. Do they honestly think the win's worth it? What's the point of people entering if they can't be bothered to negotiate all the gates or to even try and then to win. I can understand...

That comes back to paddlers practicing & racing on the appropriate water if they're likely to get out of Div 2 then they should be training on HPP and should be racing there as a Div 2 paddler, not wait until they are div 1. The paddlers & coaches (if they have one) need to have an action / develop...

I'm sure people would be willing to pay a small amount towards developmental training days. If coaches were available (for a fixed fee), their wages would be paid & people would get the quality coaching that is lacking in some areas. I see there being a need for adult sessions - as these are genera...
