Thanks Jim, just because the rule is a BCU standing order that doesn't mandate it is sensible. When was the need for it last evaluated? Has the benefit it brings versus loss of efficency been considered? I just can't see the need for such a large cut-off with modern communication means. I'll contac...

There have been some really good discussions and debates here on the future of UK slalom and some heartfelt grassroot opinions from various paddlers/supporters. It seems unfortunate to me that a fair proportion of this will not go forward to the ACM as the 30 day deadline for proposals appears to c...

John, I can only speak for myself and I desire double events in my own div. However, I fully acknowledge there are a host of "forces" on compiling the calendar and a carefully considered balance is necessary. Both boats in Lincoln and I can send photos if required. The best offer by midnight 15th Nov wins and...

Anne, everything you say makes perfect sense. I think this is a really healthy discussion that has potential to inform important future decisions. I have absolutely nothing against mixed division events and did the HPP one in Sep (badly) and Llandysul. I simply wanted to show that the present balan...

If there were no Div1 double events I couldn't do 5 single events to stay in Div 1 and take my son to his Div 4 events. If the 2008 calender reduces the number of Div 1 doubles then I will, with huge disappointment, prioritise on my son and probably stop competing myself. I don't think I'd be the o...

Hi all, Hopefully I won't upset Anne further by adding my view outside of a committee meeting. I paddle Div 1 whilst my young son (9) is very keen and paddles Div 4. Last year we did a total of 12 events (7 for him and the 5 for me, including Washburn and Llandysul). With fuel, entry fees, food etc...
