Re: Events not Showing on CanoeslalomEntries

Just a thought but would it be worth showing the event and having not published against it?

Re: Calling CR Cats, Breadalbane and Frome

Thanks for all the hard work by Dee and all those who organise the calendar. A lot of work behind the scenes and without it and those clubs who run events we wouldn't have a 2023 calendar.

Re: 6.6 Required NF Membership 75/25

Why not make it even simpler and as part of entering Division 4 races, day membership and therefore insurance is included. I'm pretty sure that the insurance the club has for running and event covers anyone at the event. This would cover and encourage paddlers to enter at Division 4 races which is r...

Re: 6.6 Required NF Membership 75/25

Currently this rules reads as 1.3 ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY FOR COMPETITION 1.3.1 UK Only full members of National Associations but including SCA Introductory Members and Canoe Club Youth Section members at Division 4 events only, have the right to participate in a national competition. 1.3.1.a UK All ath...

Re: Enjoyed the Pan Celtic?

It would make sense for the Pan Celtic to be at the Grandtully Prem/Div 1 race in April. I'll speak to the Scottish Slalom committee and see what they say. For many paddlers, competing for their Home Nation is an honour and they should be proud to represent their country. Those who compete for GB ar...

Re: Is it time for some outside the box thinking?

What I would like to see, is GB team paddlers that don't compete at home races, demoted and not qualify for selection. Making the standard in Prem should be for all paddlers and No wild cards. We need are top paddlers competing at home for lots of reasons. Most do, but they all should race enough t...

Re: Jumping the starter.

This is one of so many factors affecting runs. Even if we had beams, these are not easily transported , would need maintained and I suspect that the majority of clubs do not have the expertise nor do we have the infrastructure or time to set up and run beams and deal with any issues that arise when ...

Re: Too few indispensible volunteers

I had this very discussion a few years ago with a member of BC Slalom committee but they were not in favour at that time. It is something we have done at the Scottish Schools events. However, I can understand the reluctance of newbies to judge at Prem/Div 1 as it can be quite intimidating judging pa...

Re: Is it time for some outside the box thinking?

Arrowcraft, I couldn't agree more. I for one have been saying this for years now. The distortion between the funded squads and the rest is causing so many issues , not least picking off the better paddlers from the club so club sessions are decimated and the very coaches who have coached and nurture...

Re: Is it time for some outside the box thinking?

Further radical thought - why not move to the model, which I understand is common across Europe, where entry to races isn't restricted by the paddler's division (so basically vets....). I am coming to the same conclusion as this would allow people to compete more locally and give them more options ...

Re: Pinkston Div 2/3 30 April 1st May

Jim Good useful information as ever. Parking needs to be on the adjacent street on Borron Road, directly up the hill from the entrance to Pinkston Watersports. This should be enough parking but if it isn't you can park in 100 Borron Street car park for free opposite Diageo. Boats can be dropped off ...

Re: Is it time for some outside the box thinking?

Paddle up races are a 'bonus' for ranking paddlers racing in their own division , not a replacement. They give the paddlers experience at the next level and often enable siblings to compete when their older siblings are racing in that Division. In the past few years, Div 1 events have been full and ...

Re: Bibs

Are the funds for returning bib deposits kept separate from the usual Slalom Account funds? If all of the paddlers who have given up in the last couple of year requests their bib deposit back, I suspect this could be a considerable sum. I'm not sure what the committee finances look like but they can...
