Re: GRANDTULLY DIV 1 28/29 AUGUST 2021

We would be happy to help out to facilitate a race at Tully. Such a great place for a div 1 race. It would be such a shame to lose this race. Let us know what we need to do. I would be happy to coordinate the judges. Pete could help to design a course. I am sure other members of Proteus will support...

Re: How Much is too much for Div 1s

What about a double div 1 at the Tryweryn - On the Graveyard or the Ski Slope?
That would be incredible and a good lead-in for the Prem races.
Just a thought.

Proteus Winter Slalom on Sunday at Orton Mere

Proteus Winter Canoe Slalom is on Sunday at Orton Mere in Peterborough. Starts 12 noon. Course up on Saturday so practise available from 9am on Sunday. A good opportunity to try out canoe slalom and for more experienced paddlers to get some timed runs in. Boats can be borrowed. Hope to see you there...

Re: Best kayak?

I love my salto.
Great on all British rivers - I am 60kg but paddle a small and it's fabulous, even on Lee Valley Olympic course.
Despite my tendency to lean back!! Old school!
Try the demos out.

Why not come along to the Orton Mere winter slalom, Peterborough this Sunday. Practise in the morning and then the event will start 12 noon. Bring your winter woollies!

Orton Mere, Peterborough Winter Slalom

You must all be bored now! There's been no slaloms for a few weeks! Come along to Proteus Canoe Club first winter slalom on Sunday November 19th. The course will be up on the Saturday so practise is available on Sunday morning. The event will start at 12 noon. Queensgate shopping centre is close by,...

Re: Simplifying Vets

An interesting debate. Currently I paddle as a Master but have recently debated going Vet, especially as I am likely to be demoted to Div 1 at the end of the season. Having said that I enjoy the challenge of racing against the younger paddlers and wonder whether I would be motivated to train as much...

Orton Mere Slalom in Peterborough

Looking forward to the Div 3 and Div 4 slalom races at Orton Mere in Peterborough on May 6th and 7th. A friendly slalom where families can camp alongside the river and enjoy the weekend. Families can set themselves up on the riverbank and watch everything from one place. We have boats if you want to...

Online Entries:What does this mean for paddlers?

Hi,
Can someone explain what the online entry system will mean for paddlers?
Will we still be able to send cheques as an alternative?
Thanks.

Re: ICF Rule Changes

I would suggest that the boat weight changes are advertised at the last few races as some paddlers might not be aware of this.

Re: Demos - Paddle up + Portable points impacting numbers?

I agree that lack of demos and judges is an issue. I think many of the younger paddlers don't even think about it. I suggested judging and doing an official's run to a paddler on Sunday at Graveyard and she got so much out of it. Several of us are thinking that it might be useful to limit the number...

Pete Atkinson often takes photos at events. If you email me on sal.atkinson1@ntlworld.com with bib number and category I can ask him if he has any photos that you are interested in. Pete is currently developing his website.

Re: Orton Mere 3/4 double 28th 29th May

Hi, Water will be provided. We bring it down in water butts each day. Commercial portaloos will be available. We tend to have free practise up to 9.30 and then do organised practise whereby we ensure people have a chance to do full runs - as many as they can fit in during the time. There's usually l...
