Re: Prem is dead Long live Div 1P

OK I am not going to get into Semantics but inferring that a number of prem' paddlers want their races subsidised on the basis of one person's personal views (which they are entitled to) is pushing it a bit. :)

Re: Prem is dead Long live Div 1P

Some Prem paddlers want their events subsidised, I am unsure whether the canoeing as a whole or divisions 1,2,3,4 should do this, please explain why this should be so? Have to say I know quite a lot of prem paddlers and have never heard a discussion where they say this - is this a new thing? It wou...

Re: Prem is dead Long live Div 1P

One of the things I have always thought over the years, (and this is not unique to canoe slalom) is, (to be fair because of a lot of constraints and external pressures) systems suffer from the "bolt-on" effect. That is to say existing structures are taken and new initiatives are massaged so they can...

Re: Time to limit or split Premier Division ?

I think one of the issues is the new rules havent been taken on board by paddlers. People will say paddlers should read the ACM resolutions or look on chatter. Maybe they should but I know of many, many younger adult paddlers who wont look at chatter because they dont feel any ownership of it and se...

Re: BC in the News

I would agree with Baldockbabe, currently this is an employee/er issue as such not for public discussion. What would constitute good communication is after all procedural avenues have been exhausted and an outcome arrived at a review of the processes and procedures currently in place is carried out ...

I'd watch that too :D and sailing and rowing could be included to appeal to a wider viewing audience while giving the sports more coverage

Re: Another possible rule change proposal for ACM - Fees

" You may be misunderstanding something here? A bit of background:" I don't believe I am, but sorry I should have said "... wouldnt it be better for the slalom committee to adopt A system itself..." I fully appreciate you own the code for the Shepperton system My point is would it not be better to f...

Re: Another possible rule change proposal for ACM - Fees

A slightly different approach I think the online entry fee system is the way to go. Given the Shepperton system has been successful this year - would it not be better for the slalom committee to adopt the system itself and roll it out to all clubs? Payment for the system can then be taken in the sam...

Re: UK 19.8 - Safety Rule - Comment?

A wee rant. As the current slalom rules stand I am very doubtful they would pass the "plain English" test. :D Slalom is not alone, many sports suffer in the same way. So some thoughts: .... stay in sight of the finisher. What does that mean? If you are on the water can you actually know if the finish...

Re: Restructuring the divisions

I think that is very well said Debs One of the issues is the multitude of different assertions about what slalom wants and needs. - I think this thread admirably demonstrates the diversity. I think a proper survey which is useful for all stakeholders (sorry to use jargon but I think we all understan...

Re: Restructuring the divisions

ok fair comment but any chance of debate and more suggestions? :) Not being funny but these threads often feel like any kind of suggestion that is different is immediately shot down but no alternative is put forward and that kills the discussion. If this issue is a real problem, and clearly given th...

Re: Restructuring the divisions

I understand that, and that's the other side of any restructure I guess. You cant just change the number of paddlers in each division - you have to make sure that the water and/or the courses set are of a suitable standard. Im not or ever have been a slalom paddler but I would have thought it was po...
