Hi again guys, I'm back from a very very wet Europe trip and taking some time out from writing me thesis to try and collate some of your thoughts and discussions. I'm particularly interested in the extra curricular activities which could take place in conjunction with the event. I am involved in th...

Evening slalom friends. As paddler representative on the slalom committee I have been asked to get a feel for the slalom communities opinions on the junior and veteran champs as they are. Observations which have been made are as follow: Junior champs are not well attended by the countries best padd...

Hi guys, I am studying a Masters in Sports Coaching at Loughborough and have started my final year project now. My project aims to see if there is a relationship between good/poor coach athlete relationships and mood. i.e. does a 'good' relationship experience more positive moods and vice versa. I ...

John, I have not quoted anything from a website article. My opinion has been formed from personal research, peer groups from Universities who are pro and con LTAD AND professional coaches (namely rugby, swimming, soccer, volleyball and rowing) as well as a range of lecturers on my MSc course. Hence...

Hi John, Regarding the evidence for Mr Balyi's LTAD.....where is it? There is a dearth of academic, peer reviewed research which validates the success of such a program across all sports. Correct me if I'm wrong but the model was based on an 8 year plan for Alpine skiers. However, countless sports ...

Was that before my time John? I have to be honest....I've only started to take a real interest in formal coach education in the last couple of years despite paddling for quite a bit longer. :D

Mr Sturgess, I would argue that the people who have experienced problems gaining access to bank based coaching is not a fault of the UKCC, but a fault of the coach educators running the course. Secondly, I highlighted a similar point with Canoe Wales re. multi discipline events such as swimming, gy...

I'm going through the new UKCC system now and what John has said is correct. The bank based coach is taught and assessed at the same time but don't need the pre-requisite star tests in canoe and kayak. However I do believe that they have to be trained in the new foundation safety and rescue course ...

Don't think they are the first....I believe that Helen Brooks and Emily Clapham of Salisbury made P/1 C2 in 2004 or there abouts. Congratulations on promotion and bring on C2W!!!!
