Re: 2/3/4 slaloms not allowed

Here we go. Another event lost from the South of the country. Soon there won't be any events in the South at all. I note from the minutes of 22nd April: "8.3 Division 2/3/4 Races It was agreed that division 2/3/4 races will not be allowed for the 2013 season." That's not good enough. What are the re...

Re: Langham Farm

The course is up. The food tent didn't blow away in the night. The water's over the weir but expected to drop before start tomorrow. Langham Farm is ON.

Re: Rolling Rankings

One hazard of having unofficial results is incorrect names. My clubmate Andrew Lyall has had his name spelt wrong ever since the Tryweryn results. So incorrect on the P/1 Veteran Ranking thread and now on Duncan's database also.

I've just seen it. I'll reply. N Devon is Barnstaple, Bideford and S Devon is Exeter, Torquay, Plymouth. With Dartmoor in the middle. A long way from S Wales. And not much less to Frome for a div 4 although we go to N Devon for surf. And that can be flat also! Edit - if only ukrgb didn't keep loggi...

Would moving the footrests in a boat, ie drilling new holes, lower the value of a boat?

Just do it. Your footrest needs to be in the right place. I taped mine up 3 or 4 years ago as a temporary measure but the tape's still there.

Increased participation. Coaching and equipment have been mentioned as limiting factors. Well, we've got coaches, we've got boats, but our barrier to participation is that we don't have any events to go to. We're all dressed up and no where to go. We run a ranking div 3/4, we run a ranking div 4, a...

You're right. Yours are before and after. This must be one proposed by the committee.

5.2. Rank all divisions on 1000 points. I go along with this but there is a second part as Nick says above - there is a feeling [those words in the agenda] that promotion in the lower divisions may be a little too easy so base points and promotion on 5 races in all classes and divisions. I don't ag...

You've got to separate dangerous water from paddlers just being dangerous. You can put safety in place on harder water and have volunteers with WWSR skills if necessary, but the biggest danger is from other paddlers. The number of times there have been near misses or worse with paddlers repeatedly ...

Back to the Strategy paper. What is this fix on regions? Is that an aspiration to have regional slalom or is it what you think happens now? Clearly paddlers will travel further afield the higher up the divisions they get but there should be no artificial boundaries. I am a member of the organising ...

Thanks for the link. Do you know if they fit the smaller cockpit of a slalom kayak. We've got loads of normal size ie. to fit plastic GP and River. The spraydecks we're using for our club slalom boats fit from slalom boats of years ago and are falling apart.

Enlighten me further - Especially since my 2 have entered - What's the alternative to portaloos? A hole in the ground? Just mentioned it to my 14 year old daughter and you should see her face: " What, a hole in the ground!! " These youngsters just haven't lived! Personally I was quite happy using t...
