Entries received has been updated as of September 9th. See edited list at the top of this thread. The limit is 150 and we've just reached 100. Again you need to send in cards and entry fee to get on the list.

Re: Symonds Yat Slalom 17th/18th October

Just to confirm there are still lots of places available on both days but you need to send me entry cards and cheques (not emails) to be added to the list of entrants.

First Aid Course Gloucester

Cheltenham Canoe Club have a couple of spaces on their first aid course next weekend 25/26th April. Held in Gloucester the 2 day course costs £60 and is regocinised by the BCU and most other outdoor governing bodies. There is a particular emphasis on paddling and dealing with injuries in a remote ar...

Re: musings on the sport

It's what is covered in the whitewater 3 star which is done on grade 2 water. Part B – Rescue Skills The emphasis for the candidate is that they can be an effective member of a group. This would include that they can look after themselves and others while paddling white water (candidates to act as t...

Re: Backup stopwatches

I found finding stopwatches surprisingly difficult. We bought watches only to return them because after 30minutes the accuracy decreased. In the end we got ours from http://www.martinberrillsports.com and they were about £20 each.

Re: 6.10 Portable points proposal with a view to implement 2

Will div 3 events realistically be able to ever run as a single division event (average 37 per event this year) or will they always be put with a div 4? The jump from div 3 to 2 in terms of paddling experience could then become the difficult one. Would we end up awarding div 3 paddlers prizes at div...

Re: 6.10 Portable points proposal with a view to implement 2

It feels like we're moving to an argument that it's a good idea because it allows us access to better water (providing the event isn't full). This would suggest its the races being offered that need to be looked at and how do we get the more challenging sites for div 1s and 2s back or introduced. Th...

Re: 6.8 Levies at Divison 3 / 4

The levies go to the BCU slalom committee so if they don't get levies from div 3/4 events will this leave a shortfall to be made up else where? Would levies for other divisions rise?

Symonds Yat Slalom Oct 11/12

A few people have asked about entry numbers as they don't want to book accommodation only to find the event is full. At the moment there are lots of spaces still available. Most people have managed to send the correct entry fee with the enhanced fee of £1 per boat per day. Just a reminder a C2 is 1 ...

Re: Symonds Yat Enhanced Entry Fee

I've never run a slalom and the club hasn't run one since the 1980's when it was at Hpp. Having asked to see some other clubs accounts, nobody was forthcoming so I've been trying to budget for a slalom where EVERYTHING has to be acquired (begged, borrowed, hired, paid for) with a rough guess of the ...

Re: Symonds Yat Enhanced Entry Fee

Canadian paddler is exactly right.

The steep river banks means that access on to the water is in very limited places and these are down privately owned land where launch fees exist to use the concrete structures they have put in place and maintain.

Re: 6.13 Enhanced Entry Fees

I'm a little confused by this one ,

'Unpredicted loss' means you weren't expecting it so how could you know in advance? Alternatively does it actually mean 'an expected loss'?
