Re: GET A LIFE
As someone who's already received both of their bibs, and does have a life, my view is that it's more helpful to apply early and then the bib officers can deal with it at their leisure any time over the next couple of months, than leave it until near the start of the season where those who aren't or...

Re: Div 2/3 Vets
Hi Mike, as a P/1 vet you can enter either Prem or Div 1, you just get half points for Div 1 races. Same system as with P/1 and 2/3 C2, you can enter either division races, just get half points for the lower division. At a 2/3 in C2 you're assumed to be entering the higher division. Where there's a ...

Re: Div 2/3 Vets
I raised the question in another thread before the AGM as to why the system is different for 2/3 vets compared to all of the other combined division classes (P/1 Vets and both C2 divisions). I'm not sure why they don't have the same system of being able to enter both Div 2 and Div 3, getting full po...

Re: Boat Weight Rules
I'm somewhat confused about what the issue is with the weight increase, other than for those who might have just brought a 8kg boat? All that's required is sticking in some weight, and given that a new 8kg boat will be 9kg with a couple of years of proper use, you can then just take it out again? I ...

Re: The future of C2 in 2017
As has been discussed elsewhere on here, there are certainly quite a lot of dads paddling with their children (I think you do that don't you Steve? I know there's Steve and George Harratt, Justin Bunn and his boys etc etc) as it's a nice way to be able to still go along to div 2/3 races with the fam...

Re: Boat Weight Rules
My understanding is that it's because of new airline rules which are restricting the size of luggage, meaning a move to boats which can be split for transport. I think the issue is that it's difficult for the manufacturers to build split boats that are strong and stiff enough down to the 8/13Kg weig...

Re: 6.9 Promotion Points to be increased for C2
Certainly wouldn't want that Steve! Maybe I need to just stick the 8-year old twins in the boat on their own and see how they get on... If nothing else the arguments down the course would be a spectator sport.harratts wrote:Be careful that you don't get thought of as a pot hunter Paul.

Re: 6.15 Div 1 Practice
Just regarding the reverse order for start, going last gives an advantage as you get to see others down the course, and you know what you need to do time-wise when you start (so is a conservative run ok, or do you need to take some risks). Hence the those in the best ranking position, or qualifying ...

Re: 6.9 Promotion Points to be increased for C2
I think that's a good plan as well for 2017, I'd like to do some C2 with my other boys without the danger of going up again!

Re: Is C2 Viable as a ranking class?
Hi Dee, I doubt you'd get Prem paddlers forming casual crews and wanting to race outside Prem/1 events (case in point Mal and Kim who just went straight into P/1). Maybe you'd have that once in a blue moon for a bit of fun, but I can't see them racing regularly in 2/3. As I mentioned, my concern wou...

Re: Is C2 Viable as a ranking class?
I quite like that idea Nick... It means those who want to take it seriously can do so, get some good results in 'open' events and then be considered on merit for Prem/1, those who are more casual can just pair-up as and when they want to without the hassle of applying for a bib (or potentially multi...

Re: 6.15 Div 1 Practice
My concern about this is around new paddlers coming into Div 1 onto new water, with much more travel involved, usually with little experience on the water. The amount of travel involved in Div 1 is difficult already for southern paddlers, many aren't going to be able to go and do training camps on D...

Re: Is C2 Viable as a ranking class?
Thanks Steve, I do actually have eight year old twin boys as well, so have a few options. Maybe we could make races quorate on our own as we could make up six crews... ;) To summarise.. I'm sure organisers will be happy to keep C2, it's another couple of entry fees and easy to accommodate. Lots of p...

Re: Is C2 Viable as a ranking class?
I like Steve and Mike's suggestion of a single class and being able to enter whatever division you like, with points allocated accordingly. Me and Ethan (10 years old) have just gone up to Prem/1 this weekend, which will mean that we don't race next year, as the nearby races (LV, Shepperton on decen...
