Re: UK 19.8 - Safety Rule - Comment?
How does that confuse? It's the next 2 paddlers (to cross the finish line) regardless of order. The problem is without the threat of disqualification paddlers simply ignore the rule even at Div 1 level. It can. At some events you can't see the finish line properly from the waiting area, at others t...

Re: Proposed rule change.
Ah, ranking points are a consideration. I should probably check the rules, but as far as I remember only paddlers promoted after a date in the middle of the season (1st August?) get short season protection in the new division, paddlers promoted early in the season do need to get some ranking points ...

c) Set up a web server with dynamic DNS and publish the pages to the internet d) Synchronise the folder to the clubs static webserver and have it publish them to the internet I guess it is almost infinitely expandable, but I wonder how many organisers glazed over as soon as you mentioned a second mo...

Re: Lower Divisions (3&4) - How Could Things be Improved?
Did my post kill this thread? :( I hope not, I would really like to understand what the insurance issues really are and was hoping that some definitive statements might be drawn out of the woodwork..... People do ask div 3/4 organisers to explain the insurance situation, it would be good if there wa...

Re: Lower Divisions (3&4) - How Could Things be Improved?
It is really worrying that no-one really understands any of this! The biggest problem is going to be getting the insurers to extend the BC cover at a time when they are already a bit nervous about how much control BC really have over their own members etc. I thought that junior members of any affili...

Re: strange/suspicious advert for C1
Yep, that is as suspicious as can be, however the boat is a Maverick from around '95 and has very little value now - if it was stolen I don't suppose the owner will miss it much! I am confused about the P&H label and sticker on the back deck, as far as I know these were made or imported by Arrowcraf...

Re: Grandtully Div 2 Aug 13/14th
Hi Rob - any chance you could move C1M down the order a bit when you next revise the start list? I first noticed that my K1 and C1 practise runs were only 10 minutes apart, then I realised that all the other C1M have less than 10 minutes between both practise and race runs (all doing K1 and C1) - so...

Re: Entry Cards - Please help organisers
The ones I received were all printed on card and mostly correct (most people miss the bib number top left on the back, which is the one that is actually used when sorting stacks...), I thought it was a good idea, apart from the trimming. I still haven't managed to set up a template for printing on a...

Re: Entry Cards - Please help organisers
Another little thing - if you have been organised enough to scan a card and just print your own out, please use a real card as a guide to trim it accurately to size. I know Duncan will have a stack of 200+ cards sorted in class, division and bib order to thumb through to find a card every time someo...

Keep your fingers crossed Rose - I count 12 entries on that start list who have all been promoted, hopefully it is not very up to date!

Re: Pinkston Div 1 + GB J16,Vet Champs - June 18/19
Although they may not see it here could I also thank our non-slaloming safety volunteers Garry O'Donnell (all day Sat and Sun) and Jamie Crossan (all day Sat) whose presence allowed myself and Ondrej to do officials runs and all manner of things other than stand on the island all weekend, and whose ...

Re: Entry Fees
That's entirely sensible, worth a motion for the ACM?
Details to be worked out obviously, like most expensive entry will be the full price one (or not)

Re: Entry Fees
At a div 3 you might find some paddlers enter a second class in div 4 on the day, particularly those less confident in their second class who might want to see the course before they decide. Because we were accepting entries for div 2 & 3 on the day, we had some paddlers doing this the other day. Co...

Re: Entry Fees
Correct. It is easy to forget about MCD - I have! It is explained, but I think a lot of people struggle to read written explanations about numbers: At double events, you deduct a discount of £3.00 in the same way, from the second and subsequent standard entry fees. The entry fee for a double event i...

Re: Event Photo's
Many of them can be found through the gallery pages on http://www.canoeslalom.co.uk - they may only have one or 2 photos in the galleries but there are usually links or you can type their addresses from the watermarks on their images. If you can't find photos of the events you are looking for, try c...
