Re ranking in season

The Slalom Committee has recently met and is encouraged by both the interest from clubs in running competitions and the number of paddlers attending competitions. Some paddlers, especially juniors, have been able to continue to develop during the period where it was not possible to compete, but were...

John Sturgess

Having known John Sturgess (73 yrs) for the entire 45 years I have been involved in Slalom he will be missed. He dedicated his entire adult life to sport and in particular helping young people perform...

Re: Annual Consultative Meeting and back to racing discussion

Any such motion is a change to the terms of reference, so would need a 2/3rds majority and would be subject to BC Board of Directors approval. The committee did think about various options (including no votes for competitions this year). The term of reference (page 205, 9.2) is specific in that it s...

Re: Annual Consultative Meeting and back to racing discussion

Seems like a good topic to consider. But we have to remember most paid coaches are funded by BC performance dept, principally funded by UK Sport, and as said in a TV documentary today UK Sport focus on medals. No medals = no money. Then UK Sport just see Canoeing, so only qualifying 1 sprint place p...

Annual Consultative Meeting and back to racing discussion

Hi all Just a reminder that the ACM is taking place on Saturday 28 November via ZOOM. Motions As we are mid-season, the only motions that will be considered are motions that don't affect the rules. Please make sure that you send your motions to the secretary, signed by two members representing their...

Re: Age Categories for the 2020/21 Racing Season

For information Age categories. Option 1 and Option 4 are the same. Age category for ICF is the age in 2021. Sorry if you missed out on j18 World Championships but that's pandemic for you. Votes Historically 'organised' has been taken to be as from start to end of event including all returns. So if ...

Slalom Committee email accounts

Ladies and Gentlemen In the past week the British Canoeing accounts for the slalom committee have changed. This saves BC quite a bit of money, with just a small hiccough or two. So regardless of who is taking the role the same email address can be used: Slalom Chair is now Slalom.Chair@vol.britishca...

PERSONNAL POSTING - NOT POSTING AS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE COMMITTEE - Just as an interested person who could not make the meeting So I was not at the meeting, but understand that this took a long time. I believe the timescale went: Motion amended to state one person cannot win both prizes Amendmen...

Re: 6.2 Entry Fees

Chris, applications for support are not normally included in minutes. We try to deal with the applications quickly, not wait for the next meeting. For example there are two cases being considered at the moment, and one of them has taken too log in the process so I am pushing it now. Should they be p...

ACM Motions

As usual I have tried to post the motions on this BBS for discussion. There are limitations to my ability to reflect all the changes, so some deleted words are just deleted, some of the tables are hard to reflect properly (so I didn't). The Agenda and other papers can be found on a google drive at h...

6.1 Veterans Trophies

We have two veterans’ trophies from the time when there were two veterans’ divisions. Last year we agreed a single division, with a result that only one of the two prizes could be awarded. This motion seeks to clarify the point of the trophies to allow overall performance and performance at Divisio...
