Re: Interclubs

Traditionally, interclubs has always been run by the clubs for the clubs. The issue is finding someone to run it at a suitable location. Cardington was perfect for this with lots of camping right next to an appropriate course. However, whilst local help has been offered the local paddlers are not ab...

Re: Slalom Committee Meeting Minutes

Yes it did and minutes have been issued, a bit later than perhaps is usual, but we all have other lives too. I’m sure they will appear on Canoeslalom.Co.uk shortly.

You can probably get yourself added to the circulation list by contacting the secretary

Re: Applying for bib when promoted

Just for clarity, unless I’m mistaken this does not apply to Div 4s promoted to div 3

Thes paddlers will have their success confirmed by the competition organisers and won’t have a bib to return
They will not be allocated a bib number until they have applied for a bib.

Re: Jumping the starter.

From the rules
10.4.1 The finish line must be marked clearly on both sides of the course.
UK The Start and Finish may not be the same gate.
This should give the finisher something to eye across and could just be a finish gate.

Re: Waiting list confusion

Dee- Wrote It is NOT a way around the rules. As soon as the the 4 week deadline is reached then the system counts all waiting list entries when deciding if race is full, so you will only get your midnight entry if there is room for everyone on the waiting list plus you. If not you will still end up...

Re: Waiting list confusion

How to guarantee getting a PU entry. As I see the system, if you do your PU entry just after midnight 4 weeks before the event, you will beat the Organiser adding everyone above you on the waiting list and get your entry. Providing the event is not full before this time. I like the PU system of gua...

Re: Waiting list confusion

Thanks Dee, that makes sense. So if someone enters as a paddle up after the 4 week point, but before the organiser has processed the waiting list, do they bypass higher ranked paddlers who are on the waiting list? I don’t think it will be a problem this season! Yes in as much as they get an entry a...

Re: Waiting list confusion

Prior to the 4week point paddleups can only enter on waiting list. Also, the entry system checks the numbers on the list of entries to see if race is already full. If it is then all paddlers go to waiting list. At the 4week point (in this case 4th June) the following things happen: 1) the organiser ...

Re: Too few indispensible volunteers

I’ve also used clubs to provide judges. If a club has 8 or so paddlers at a competition there are probably some additional supporters too so asking them to cover a gate judge position for the weekend seems reasonable and certainly makes it easier from an organising point of view. But I have had one ...

Re: Is it time for some outside the box thinking?

This year, combined Div 1/2 races would be possible at all Div 1 races as there are so few Div 1 paddlers. I asked the Slalom committee to consider this last year as I could see it was an issue. Don't know why it wasn't permitted but we need to be far more responsive to changing circumstances to en...

Only a week to go, and the weather forecast is promising a sunny intervals and a gentle breeze, so hopefully we will not have any chairs in the water this year! If you haven't got your div 1 entry in then please don't delay and do it today ! We also still have a few practice slots available on Frida...

Lee Valley Div 1/Open

Not long to go now before the season kicks off with the Div 1 at Lee Valley! If you have been dithering as to whether or not to enter the div 1, then now is a good time to get your entry in before late entry fees kick in on Friday 18th. It's also a good time to apply for your bib so that you avoid a...
