Hi Guys Bear in mind that you don't get promoted on two results. You need five good ones, or three wins. None of the four who polished off their promotions at Llandysul got up on three wins, so all of them had at least three good results on other courses. That must make them pretty good paddlers on...

The format for this year's selection was new: one weekend, three races: one of two runs, and two of one run each - the idea being to recreate something like the 'feel' and pressure of a major event.
What did you think of it? Did it work? Was it 'fair'?

I think John is right: there is no specific rule that says the section judge must record the highest penalty. But it is usual (UK) practice, the assumption being that a dodgy decision will be protested. This might seem biased, but so are protests - have you ever protested to get a penalty put on, r...

Mark: I don't know, but it isn't their website

Steve: I know that the slaloms and some Dee tours were offered, and that the offer was "less than we've traditionally had" but I don't know the rest. If you do, tell us!

Ed
I don't know the details but I think you'll find the regular tours were also part of what was on offer.
Can anyone tell us what the offer actually was?

I don't see it, Steve. Llangollen isn't the fishing lobby. The people who'll lose income are not the people who can offer access. Taking this "stand" is just throwing the toys out of the pram. Town Falls is the one showcase event where spectacular canoeing takes place in the heart of a tourist town ...

It will probably depend on the course and the paddler's weight and size, but my money is on 3.6 to 3.7m. Shorter than that, and you start to lose boat speed - which is as important as quick turning unless you drift your slaloms. Know this formula? Max displacement speed (knots) = 1.4 x square root o...
