Re: Back to Slaloms
The Pandemic is unfortunately returning with some vigour and it is going to be challenging over the next few weeks. British Canoeing has published more guidance today. I personally am concerned that clarity about what is and what is not possible or appropriate is a little lacking. An interpretation ...

Re: Back to Slaloms
We are still pushing on with trying to get the Virtual Scottish Championships running in October. Submission going to Sport Scotland tomorrow of how we are planning to run it for approval and confirmation that it complies with the new Scottish Rules out today. We believe it does and we are fully sup...

Re: Back to Slaloms
As has been noted there is no bar to clubs organising events with up to 30 present provided all relevant precautions are taken. Events over 30 require to comply fully with Health and Safety COVID Secure requirements. If they don't the organiser could find themselves financially responsible. It is no...

Re: British Open/ HPPCC/SS open
Thanks Jim Absolutely. The SPL are close to wiping themselves out with the shenanigans in Aberdeen and Celtic. One more and I think it will be closed down. They are in theory abiding by very strict rules. Anyone who attends an event elsewhere in Europe will be obliged to comply with quarantine rules...

Re: British Open/ HPPCC/SS open
Indeed they have Jasper. However the UK has had and still has one of the worst outbreaks of COVID 19 in Europe. We have to comply with the rules here. It is theoretically possible to run an elite race here however the requirements are extensive and significant and challenging to meet (as well as pot...

Re: British Open/ HPPCC/SS open
I worry for your brothers hair. Leicester Tigers have a completely different position in that they can dictate the actions of their players and expect them to comply (even then they can err). All help is welcome but remember the considerations for different activities are often very different. Withi...

Re: British Open/ HPPCC/SS open
Thank you Mark A colleague is supporting Scottish Rugby and they have had to jump a huge number of hurdles. One of the things they can do is afford £250 a week for testing each player and finance has driven them back. It is far from easy. It would be possible in theory to run a competition at a full...

Re: British Open/ HPPCC/SS open
Hi All This is my personal position and not the formal position of the Slalom Committee. The enthusiasm for the sport is admirable and I fully understand the desire to get back to competition. There is as Mark notes a lot going on in the background and COVID 19 has filled much of my time over the la...

Re: Cancellation of all British Canoeing events and gatherings,
Thanks Nick. I have written out to all organisers up until the end of April who now have the thankless task of cancelling races. While at the moment this is up to and including the 30th April it is very likely that cancellations will extend beyond that and further into the summer. At the present tim...

Re: 6.2 Entry Fees
Hi Jim
We have broken the percentage link and the levies will only increase by inflation (1.7 percent this year) and thus the percentages have fallen.

Re: 6.1 Veterans Trophies
I was there as well and trying to record an outcome. It became clear that there was no chance of achieving a reasonable consensus that all could accept in the meeting and although I did not minute it this way - the committee got dumped on with coming up with a plan that achieved acceptance. It was f...

Re: 6.2 Entry Fees
Well there is certainly debate and I expect it will not be a 2 minute session at the ACM on this. I have a sense that there are several things going on here and maybe someone needs to propose an amendment to the motion that we put forward from he committee. There needs to be fee increases for Prem, ...
